  2. We have 4cm from todays snow. Mainly from this evening but nearly a cm managed to stick from this mornings efforts.
  3. Overnight rain has turned to snow finally in Dore, west Sheffield. Up the hill at Owler bar and Ringinglow have a good covering and the snow line is now dropping.
  4. Lower temps and dew points. Take a look here.... http://www.meteociel.com/accueil/temperatures.php
  5. Its definatly sleet at your end. Ive just come down Derbyshire lane and there was ice in some of the drops on the windscreen. There is hope yet.
  6. Frequent light to moderate snow showers from mid morning here in west Sheffield. These only left 0.5cm of fresh snow on already cleared areas but 1 cm on top of the snow. Total depth is currently 9cm. Pics from this evening in Bents Green, Sheffield 290 meters above sea level.
  7. A few pics from Bents Green in Sheffield. Persistent light flurries all morning gave way to sunnier, colder conditions this afternoon with 2 notable heavy snow showers giving a dusting. The side roads around here are atrocious.
  8. A virtually clear and sunny day with a patchy frost this morning. Cold and clear now and 3.5oc.
  9. Third thundery shower of the day. Heavy rain and 2 flashes of lightning so far out of this one. nothing spectacular all day apart from the monsoon at 12.30.
  10. Might well get somehthing here in west sheffield. Im off up to ringinglow to look out west.
  11. Yeah, that was in Carterknowle road in millhouses in south sheffield. I was about 2 miles from there and that storm around lunchtime which did that damage was an absolute bease and seemed to get worse as it passed away. I was watchin it develop at around 11am.
  12. I was on the mobile up at ringinglow when it went all crackly then an almighty bolt came down about 100 meters away. I soon put the phone down!
  13. Yer. I went up to ringinglow to see this one coming in from bakewell direction. Was scary up there. lightning hitting the ground quite frequently nad very heavy rain but as I drove back to Dore the lightning seens to have all but dissapeared. The lunchtime storm was special though!!!!
  14. Onto the 3rd storm of the day here in Sheffield. Each one has virtually developed over us too. Went and sat in the car watchin the current one roll in from Derbyshire. Amazing CG and quite frequent. The most impressive storm was here at 12.00 - 1.00 thia afternoon. Monsoon rain and 4-6 lightning strikes a minute
  15. The shower coming out of Birmingham has our name written on it though.
  16. http://www.thestar.co.uk/news/LATEST-Flood...sery.5354677.jp Earlier in Sheffield.
  17. Cant believe how the cell that developed over Sheffield and rotherham at about 3pm is just pivoting over Sheffield and not moving at all. 10 miles east and west are relatively well off where as it a wash out here. Been raining in Dore, Sheffield for just about 6 hours nonstop.
  18. Think your rain gauge is faulty today mate. My brother in Gleadless has 40mm today and i have 64 in dore. Plenty of local flooding doesnt come from 13.5 mm falling in 5 hours.
  19. Current situation in Sheffield. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/south_y...ire/8094080.stm
  20. Rain intensifing one again. This cell has been developing over sheffield for the past 3 hours. Drains are spewing water back out and looks scarily like 2 years ago here in west Sheffield. Lightning around twice a minute.
  21. A fine start to the day but soon clouded over around lunchtime with light showers which merged to give heavier and more prolonged showers around 3 - 5pm. After that again there were passing moderate showers until 10.00pm when persistant heavy rain moved in from the southwest. Still raining heavily now. Turning out to be a very wet week.
  22. Hi. Was up your way from Sheffield last week. We were in Towie near Glenkindie. Had a fantastic week, even enjoyed being diverted via aberdeen and having a very slow 2 hour drive through rural aberdeenshire to get to Towie with the 14'' of snow on the ground on the saturday evening!!! Here are some pics from Towie, Lecht, Dufftown and Tomintoul.
  23. Hoping for a bit more tomorrow. Still have 6 inches here in dore after the slightest of thawing in the sun but even snow still stuck to trees over here. Enclosed are some pics taken this afternoon and evening in Ecclesall and up at Ringinglow.
