    A few rumbles of thunder in the heavy rain we recieved in the early evening. Dried up and the skies brightened again but it is now rainin g heavily again. 16mm so far today. Was also under the developing storm that soaked south leeds and wakefield earlier. Came out of nothing whilst in the peak district west of Sheffield.

    Heavy rain this morning with 1 rumble of thunder. Heavy rain at lunch time too. Passing storm about 10 miles away at 5.30 pm brought some great cloud structure to the east with around 10 loud rumbles.

    Storm here from 3 till 4.45. Heavy rain and thunder/lightning at around 2 per minute. Some fantastic cloud structures as it moved in, mammatus and swirling gust front cloud.

    A very cool/cold day today. Overcast with rain early and late. Top temp of 14.5oc!!!

    Intense and regular lightning around 10 - 15 miles from here over worksop area. Flashes around every 5 - 10 seconds and distant rumbles. CG lightning looking very impressive from this distance.

    We didnt get the torrential rain in the storm earlier this month. It was just 2 hours of heavy rain. Today was much better in south east sheffield. Lightning was better in the storm around midday which was 2 small cells, one over peak district and one over worksop area. These 2 joined up over this part of the world. As i type there is still some impressive thunder rolling over towards rotherham. 2 pics are of gust front over us at 16.45 this afternoon and one is of this mornings storm clearing to the north.

    Exactly the same here mate. Recent lightning has been spectacular but less frequent but thunder has been very loud and strong. When the gust front came through, everything went mad, windows and doors slammed shut and the rain was the most intense Ive seen in a long time. It was coloured white on the radar. Pics to follow.

    Just had 2 pretty good but small storms pass over. The first from around 11.20 and the 2nd from 12.20. Both lasting about 40 mins. Very heavy ain from the 2nd one that caused local flooding on the roads, a few man hole covers are off and some teriffic pink fork lightning. Very loud thunder too with even distant rumbles carrying a long distance.

    Distant flashes of lightning to the east. Currently 20oc at 3 am!

    Had 3 loud but distant rumbles from a fast developing but small storm abiout 10 miles away over worksop. The sky turned black and was accompanied by a gust fro nt that approached but then retreated. Very hot and humid all day. Very warm last night too.

    Storm been trying to move in for hours and now has finally has moved over us. Some nice lightning for an hour but not much in the last 10 mins. Moderate to heavy rain but other more western parts of sheffield have had 30mm in an hour.

    Been cloudy all morning, hazy sunshine tryting to poke through. Now it is very dull and we are having a moderate shower. Nice to see a bit of rain. It should settle the dust for this afternoons scortcher. Currently 18oc.

    Had some short lived heavy rain this morning with distant rumbles of thunder over the peaks. since mid afternoon there have been distant rumbles all around with more very heavy but short lived downpours. Very humid.

    Had around 3 loud cracks of thunder around 8.00pm tonight and heavy rain too.

    Storm passed to my south around 3.15 over chesterfield. Some very loud rumbles. All clear at the mo. Warm and humid and a cluster now moving towards here from north birmingham area.

    It was very cold and windy this morning with a few hours of heavy sleet. Snow flakes clearly visible. This turned back to rain during the morning and bacame rather mild.

    We had some tennis ball sized snowflakes earlier this afternoon also, mixed into the hail. Your right, its a kilmarnock weeping willow.

    The heavy snow has now eased slightly but is still falling. Another band is now moving into south yorkshire according to the radar so i expect this to get heavier again. It has thawed on the roads and paths alittle. On the higher areas of sheffield there is well over 2cm of lying snow.

    snow and hail showers on and off today. Very heavy hail and snow for the last half hour. Has given a nice covering. These pics are from 10 mins ago. More to follow! Current temp is 0.7oc

    We had some light rain showers this morning but it went very dark about 10 minutes ago and it is now snowing pretty heavily. Very nice to see as we have had hail for the past few days.

    We have had frequent light sleet/hail showers through the day. Currently 5oc.

    A few light showers this morning of sleet and ice pellets. Very cold wind today.

    Had a few flurries overnight but had persistant light to moderate snow falling all morning which left over a cm on the ground. Very fluffy, dry flakes. This was followed by some light snow showers this afternoon. At around 3.30 it turned to ice pellets and became heavy for a while, giving a slight covering again.

    Light snow flakes now falling. Small flakes, about 5mm across. Nothing on the radar as yet though.
