Am I right in remembering that the early 2010 mid-summers were mainly like this? 2012 sticks out but possibly 2011/13 as well? Definitely has a similar feel to it. I think late July into August tended to pick up in the main, although one of those years we got a proper big Atlantic storm in August which was quite early. 2011 maybe?

Some decent downpours in Glasgow this evening.
EDIT: It nearly always bloody rains in Glasgow as you all know but this is a different, refreshing, end of summers day rain which is pleasant to listen to.

Just interrupting my extended watching of videos featuring Mick Lynch wiping the floor with media and politicians alike to say the weathers been no bad the past couple of days.

Don’t worry, there’s plenty of deep fried Mars Bars to keep you occupied.

What ‘hot snap’? Glasgow has a projected high of 14c on Saturday…

In Scotland we will likely have to wait that long for our first 20c of the year.

We seem to be under a wet conveyor belt now. If this was snow....
A question oft asked here in Glasgow.

Looking out for our first 20c of the year and see no sign. If I’m not mistaken Glasgow has yet to reach this milestone this year, and it seems quite late for it.

Crikey - that’s not a squall, that’s a monsoon!

Feels like we’re stuck in one of those chilly, dreich and dank patterns we seem to get in the West of Scotland in the summer months. While practically the rest of Europe gets some lovely bright weather at least part of the time, we can’t remember the last time we saw the sun.
If memory serves, these can be brutally stubborn patterns to shift.

Looking out the window....is pointless. It's like a grey blind has been drawn. Oncoming day shift report as follows; it's bloody horrible out. So there you have it, Ayrshire in rubbish weather shocker.
Meanwhile, on the medical front, my reinflated lung collapsed again two nights ago leading to a high drama surgical intervention with a second drain being installed. I am now Puffy Two Drains and quite famous in the department. Doctors come from far and wide to examine me and the nurses just hang around and swoon....
Sorry to hear of the medical complication, although I'm envious of you making the nurses swoon. Take it easy.

Cracking warm spell coming up. Wouldn’t look out of place in May.

Looking forward to the slightly milder and pleasant spell later this week. Might be time for big winter jacket to be put aside for a while (will no doubt need it again for one last cold snap).
The solstice and the clocks going forward will hopefully herald some nicer, milder weather, if still with the risk of a lingering chill at times. It can get frustrating at this time of year with the brighter nights not quite coinciding with a rise in temperatures.

Same down here. A very nice sunset with the colour bouncing off the underside of the clouds.

Decent wee covering of snow in the south side of Glasgow. Not quite got the same elevation as @Ross B so totals a bit less. Had a bit of a blizzard for a while just before 8am.

I'm driving a double deck bus tomorrow, not good.
During the legendary hurricane bawbag and a similar later storm in Scotland, the bus companies in Glasgow and Edinburgh took double deckers off the road. I'd hope your employer considers the same move if the conditions are severe as suggested tomorrow.

Indeed, surely the risk to millions of people of disruption, damage to property, risk of injury, even life deserves more air time and is more important than shady goings on in the Royal Family.
There was a video posted by @Norrance in the Scottish thread of news reporting from the Burns day storm of 1990. In that the ITN weather forecaster is interviewed, the anchor asking him: 'why didn't the weathermen tell us about this'?
His response? 'We did, repeatedly, from the weekend onwards'. You could almost hear the frustration in his voice.
Wondering if there's the risk of a similar scenario here.

Some people seem a bit disappointed that their location might not see the strongest winds .
Given these winds could bring down power lines , rip off roofs and cause major destruction am I missing something .
Perhaps it’s my storm phobia talking but really I hope Eunice just gets lost!
There's a strange motivation among some posters who are desperate to be the biggest cynics and naysayers about anything that has piqued other members' interest.

I was thinking that, once Storm Dudders has done its worst, there'll be millions of already weakened trees waiting for Eunice. Thank God the trees are nae in-leaf!
You’re right - it’s quite notable the number of coniferous and fir trees coming down.

Am I reading this correctly? Suggestion of 8-10cm of snow in Glasgow by Friday night? That’s Feb/March 2018 stuff. As was mentioned by @shuggee earlier Im surprised more isn’t being made of that, if confidence in this modelling is high (maybe it isn’t?)

Trains will either have to run with a blanket speed restriction to minimise the risk of damage or even derailment due to debris, or as others have mentioned may be withdrawn altogether. Given the scale of the forecast I’d expect the latter will happen. No point in putting safety of passengers and staff at risk unnecessarily.
Most trains in Scotland already suspended today, although that tends to be regular decision when bad weather strikes here. There was a serious accident 18 months ago caused by bad weather (albeit not wind on that occasion) and so those in charge can be quite cautious.

I know this isn’t the main focus given the potential situation through much of England but how confident can we be of my forum name being realised on Friday? Seen a few forecasts hinting at snow right through the central belt from the east, which for Glasgow is pretty ideal if you want decent snowfall.

Yesterday was decent, today has been pretty wet. Largely the story of June here. Doesn’t appear to be any sign of this pattern changing, indeed these tend to be pretty difficult to shake off.
