Nope! This is not the model thread. I appreciate that this *also gestures vaguely in the general direction of any window* sucks - but we all know that "here it comes guys - it's just 10 days away" never gets closer than 7 days away.......
-
OK so overnight on Thursday we managed to get some snow and then we managed some more tonight (Early Saturday)
-
All I can tell you is that there is an awesome cafe there - and one summer when I was sat there looking out of the windows I remarked to my OH that it was an awesome view - but I bet in a few months when the snow comes it's difficult to get to - and several staff members made audible sounds that suggested that they knew all too well how difficult it was to get to in the winter months......

The last few days the NMM Hi-Res has had us down into the cold temperatures through the night - but the weather has refused to play ball, so while the NMM says it should be -1.2C outside - it's really 5 or 6C outside. I'll see how it does tonight, the Hi-Res NMM has us down for 3.2C by 18:00 and we are still sat at 5.3C so I'm not convinced, -2.5C by 6am.... not looking likely. If the Hi-Res NMM can't even get it right for T+12 then I'm not terribly worried by what any other models are doing. EDIT: In slightly better news.... I won £0.18 on the MegaMillions though - so it's not all depressingly terrible.

I've pretty much given up on Winter now. I'm sure there will be some more cold spells on the horizon and probably some snow days - since Late Feb/Early March is when I expect to see snow anyway.
-
It does seem more likely from a "sods law" point of view that when the spring flowers start to come up - there will be a 2 week spell of -40 degree temperatures to kill everything off. (yeah I know, slight exaggeration) But think how many photos you see of Daffodils poking up through the snow. (Here is some help if you have never seen them https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=daffodils+in+snow+pictures&espv=2&biw=1366&bih=638&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwie4pqiu8nRAhVqAsAKHbeFDNYQ_AUIBigB )

Oh how lovely..... we have MurderSleet coming according to some "media" establishments. Anyone heard of MurderSleet before? (just for clarification - I don't actually think killer rain is coming)
-
Though it's fair to say - that 09/10 and then 10/11 both delivered, here - and it kind of spoiled us...... I in particular remember than when 2012 delivered zero snow for the entire Autumn, Winter and Spring that I was extremely disappointed - we didn't even get a dusting!
-
Dropped to -3.3 earlier in the evening, rose back up to -2.2 and is now dropping again - currently down to -2.7 Avg sitting at 0.2C I don't think it's going to drop to 0 before midnight, so we'll finish the day with an average above 0 (just)
-
Really disappointed - I was expecting at least a few minutes of "spot the eagle" - but it's in the sky, with nothing obscuring it - making it super easy to spot in 5 seconds! You owe me a more time consuming challenge
-
-
Yeah now that we have the snow - the temperature is shooting up here and is forecast to hit about 3C before it drops back down to freezing in the afternoon.
-
PS - obviously - it's in a world of it's own - but does anyone have a chart for this ensemble which has air pressure so low it's off the graph?! (it looks like it's either 950 or 945mb..... )
-
The weather app (Weather Timeline) I use on my phone is using the DarkSky API for it's forecasts, I don't know where that data comes from (but it is generally more accurate than both the NMM and the GFS - for short term forecasts). It currently has us down for a brief mild spell and then back into the freezer. I shall await the actual conditions with interest. Not seeing anymore -40s on the T500 ensembles though trending around -25. T850 tending around -5

Hubby estimates there is about an inch and a half on the kitchen roof (we can see the slope of the kitchen roof from the landing window). Was quite fun while it lasted. Bedtime now I guess.

-
Nope not yet and still ages to wait!
-
Is there anyone here near Tallanton Castle Car Park? Hubby broken down, breakdown not due till 17:29, he really needs a blanket...
-
I was asleep - but according to my automated twitter posts - We had snow this morning.... it was all gone by 12pm.
-
Sorry, am I reading people in the Borders have snow?!?!?!?! We don't even have rain - never mind snow - 100% dry as a desert here!!!!
-
For info (obviously of no use now) - they re-opened it about 30mins ago.
-
For those of us still waiting - here are some updated Traffic Scotland cams. A9 Avielochan (S) A9 Drumochter (N) A95 Grantown (E) A835 Braemore (E)
-
That happened to us early this morning and @Ravelin but once it topped out (at 10.3) it then dropped fairly quickly.
-
Starting to see tweets from various authorities about snow gates being closed. A939(N) CLOSED AT SNOWGATE COCK BRIDGE A939(S) CLOSED AT SNOWGATE AFTER TOMINTOUL

Yeah they said open Thursday *if* repairs can be completed overnight. It's anyone's guess as to how practical it actually will be to do the repairs tonight though......
