Big echo developing over holland ( just off the coast) moving due west
There certainly is.. just saw the cloud get a bit more angry over last few hours on http://www.yr.no/sat..._animasjon.html Latest NAE 12z looking a little more positive as well - but hey, for many of us it might just be cold rain / sleet... is another good ol wait and see

Well for my area of SW London I sum the winter up as "Cold Dull Pants" The snow never really got going here (hence knocked out in first round of cup) so pretty rubbish overall... Looking forward to an absolute roaster of a summer though !
Something to watch while we wait for the warm weather to arrive who thinks that area of precipitation will reach out shores an keep intensity?
I think there is a 50/50 chance for those south of the Thames at the moment
-
Any chance of a streamer (or a streaker) tomorrow ? I doubt it but with flurry potential somebody has to ask otherwise the thread will not feel right
-
plenty of opportunities for racy swim-suits (erm not me though), top down driving, beer and BBQ's!
Guessing you cannot wait to get your "top down" (you wont get pulled over for indecent exposure will you ?)
-
Is strange - the met has Twivkenham down for light snow from 4-10am ? Puzzled by that - wilm probably change next hour
-
Happy Easter everyone ! This year I will not be having a picnic on the grass near Hammersmith bridge, while watching the boat race haha
-
No end to the cold in sight - as I put on the model output thread - am an pattern matching to the spring of 1917 = very cold !!
However I am a firm believer that this summer will be very dry and very warm in the south east with Thunderstorms

Thank you, it hides some dark secrets:
Nice ! Wish I could see the license plate though
-
I am banking on a warm dry and long summer (once it gets started) I do not think 1962 is a good analogue for this year - but who am I to judge
webcam for the volcano s not working ANYONE ELSE GETTING IT??
Is working for me snow problems at all

Did you read the longer term forecast properly?
Southern parts of the UK are likely to be unsettled with rainfall amounts possibly above average, especially at first. Temperatures here close to or just below average, though probably not as cold as conditions currently are.
Maybe... but that is specific to the 9th April onwards...
-
So snow for the north of the region filtering south- as has been the forecast for a couple of days- may happen faster, may happen slower
I am banking on Central London to receive consistent snow from 1pm tomorrow (while we still have working banks that is...)
That is my guesstimate and all of my predictions have survived any independent stress test - just like Cyprus
-
It really is shaping up for a true continental conveyor belt feed of cold air
-
Why the met cannot update every hour is beyond me - all that money and they don't seem to keep up with the basics in service - in the USA NOAA provide hourly stats and updates for everywhere : example : not too difficult... http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=38.96920&lon=-77.3873&unit=0&lg=english&FcstType=graphical met bash over

Hi Folks still in Virginia due back home on Thursday - am missing all the fun but had plenty here last Thursday. Looking forward to all the pics and depths from everyone tomorrow. Stay safe everyone ! Can't upload my snow storm photos from here until next week - I'm sure yours will be just as good.
-
Hi All - quick update - am staying in Herndon Virginia (by Dulles Airport) and expecting up to 1ft of snow by about 10pm UK time tomorrow night - am looking forward to providing the pictures - is looking like up to an inch an hour at times Am due to fly home on 14th March - but judging by the model output maybe my flight home will be delayed... (fingers crossed for you SE coldies !)
-
Current model output reminds me of the 2006 March snow - Maybe I can handle another bout of cold in return for a 2006 style summer heatwave
-
Hi All
I am lucky enough to be in Washington DC at the moment - with the impending snow storm here I will be sure to get some pictures up when I can.. Hopefully I will get to stay at the hotel tomorrow and not have to go to work in which case I will be able to get even better pics
Cheers !

"The Eagle has landed" saw a flake hit the ground in the City, must have been from an elite paratroop regiment
Prepare to repel all invaders !
-
control run also shows a tad chilly
another interesting one
Only if you are a Penguin I fly to the US this Sunday and every time I fly there is always a bit of snow either before or after - this time looks like afters.
By the way - I am certain of a super hot met office style barbeque summer this year Or at least what a barbeque summer should actually be like
heat waves a-plenty - I can feel it already - yeah
-
All I will say is it feels fricken freezing outside
-
I think its Angel Dust
-
............at least that way I won't be disappointed
I am confused MKS - that dont' look like snow to me - I could infer all sorts of things from that picture - maybe none of them you would like
-
Going by the met ap at the moment Richmond / Twickenham and similar parts SW of are in for basically nothing overnight - whereas places such as Croydon are on for light snow throughout the wee hours...
