  1. So the latest Met office warning has taken south Yorkshire out of the event tomorrow sad.png

Yellow Warning of Snow for Yorkshire & Humber

Yellow Warning of Snow for Yorkshire & Humber : East Riding of Yorkshire, Kingston upon Hull, North Lincolnshire, North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire & York valid from 0600 Sun 10 Feb to 1000 Mon 11 Feb

As KS said above there are 2 separate warnings out for snow. South Yorks is covered in the other warning which states -

    Issued at:

Early rain over western Britain is expected to turn to snow as it spreads eastwards during Sunday. Snow cover is likely to be very variable, with some places seeing little settling, others 2-4 cm, and with the potential for 10 cm or more over parts of the Midlands, Kent an Essex, especially later in the day. The public should be aware of the risk of disruption, particularly to travel.

Temp 0.9C here now with a dew point of -3.8C. Can't see much more than a flurry here tomorrow, that's if it's not rain. Hopefully some beefy showers in the next few days though!

  2. An epic snow shower just passed through here, temp dropped by 3c!! Incredible gusts of wind with sideways snow, unfortunately just a dusting as the ground is so wet. The wolds has a new white hat on anyway, next showers incoming biggrin.png

The temp drop is impressive isn't it! Back up to 5.5C here now and snow cover has melted. The temp really yo-yo ing between showers. IF we keep the shower activity after dark i reckon we could see some accumulation here.

  3. Heavy snow here now. Settling on the grass only but it's really blowing about! Temp dropping fast in the shower. From 5.5C to 2.2C in around 5 mins! Dew point now -1.7C!

Not sure if that line of showers is has colder 850hpa temps behind it but a massive drop in temperature here now. It's now 1.2C. That's a 4.3C drop in just 20mins! Quite impressive!

  4. Looks like anywhere in the region could see some snow over the next 24 hours. 850hpa temps between -4 and -7C, dam below 528. just need the precipitation. The further west the better but it looks like the strength of the wind will be enough to blow plenty of showers over the Pennines. Snow showers are forecast even here as far East as the coast.

Warming up slightly overnight tomorrow before attention turns more to the East of the region. May be a bit marginal here on the coast for a while but wintry showers continuing for the rest of the week.

    Wrap up warm!

  5. My snow pile has eventually disappeared! Recorded temp of 13.9C last night at 19.30!

Some very squally showers about today. Had a real heavy one about an hour ago and sure i heard a rumble of thunder. The anemometers knackered on my station but my wheelie bin ended up 3 doors up the street. Nearest Met station at Fylingdales recorded a 56mph gust and Bridlington 54mph.

    More showers incoming now too.

  6. Finally arrived here. No-one much mentioning the wind, but very gusty here in the valley and there was a lot of drifting on the hills before the snow arrived. Could be a few road closures tonight.

I came from Brid to Foxholes at around 11.30 today and the roads were getting a covering from the drifts then!

Just started here too. Nothing heavy yet but it's most definately snow!

    Temp 0.2C (Dew point -3.1C).

  7. Just got back from a nippy trip out. Drove to Flamborough. Driving down toward Bempton and there was some impressive drifting snow blowing off the fields which covered the road over in places. Carried on to a snowless Bridlington before heading up to the Wolds. Burton Fleming still being pumped out from recent flooding and the beck was still very high. There must be some nervous residents there! Headed over to Foxholes and back down to Scarborough via Staxton Hill which gave us some well impressive snowy views.

Had a few light flurries in the last couple of hours and temp looking good so far.

Currently 0.2C with a dew point of -3.6C.

MO showing all snow here for now :)

  8. AHHHHH, MY EYES!!.....

At last! A clear sky! looking forward to some sunshine today, can't remember last time it wasn't cloudy.

Gotta say this week has been the worst kind of cold!

Pretty much a steady +2C day and night!

Constant cloud, occasional sleet and a continuous slow thaw and slush.

Not nice really so looking forward to a change!

Looking likely we could be in for a good dumping tonight before briefly turning to sleet. Might get one more sledging trip if i get up early enough tomorrow!

    Temp at -1.6C.

  9. This is getting a bit tedious now! Temp only dropped below freezing once since Sunday. Dull, cloudy, cold with a constant slow thaw and slush on the ground. Thought we may be in for a bit of a bonus snow flurry or two today. Temp is 2.2C but dewpoint is -1.8C and as i type it's raining! How do you get rain with a Dew point of -1.8C?

    Anyway. Iv'e had my fun!

I just want to see a bit of sunshine now instead of this endless grey!
