Three Counties & East Anglia Regional Discussion - January 19th 2013>
Country Boy replied to Snowangel-MK's topic in Regional
I remember it well.i started work in London in that January, I had to walk 4 miles to the station as trollybuses could not cope, i remember 4 foot of snow ,lucky we had steam trains, to days electric ones are very poor in bad weather. Windows in side houses froze, and record temps of - 10. All day.. Burst pipes everywhere, and some spectacular ice formations, 50% of our wild birds died that winter that lasted for 3 months....this cold spell is a drop of the hat, but glad some youngsters are enjoying something like saw in 1963- 772 replies

This part of the world is the sushine coast, so yes we do have some good weather here, our best shot is a n/w wind, nothing from the west seems to make it past the Tendering triangle as its known here- 796 replies

Agh!! Stop will it or won't it...I posted earlier that with a south east wind it will slow the front up...It will get here and when in does it will stick around and stall. We have just had a few flakes in the wind.local radio saying really heavy between 6 and 9 tonight, which make my forecast about right...- 796 replies

Only one report of snow from mr bloody skirting the eas coast, it's near me but I have a sky full of stars..and a moon. I said it before...I don't trust the radar in winter, the summer one is correct, is it due to moist upper air ...not sure...anyone ???

Another warning for Mon/Tuesday. As another westerly front bashes up to the cold air. But its the same risk, will it or wont it reach the East Anglia coast,. Most coast line fail to get the Monday snow event. Another thing is strong south easterly winds will hold up the fronts progress this also applies to Mondays event. and a south easterly will be a dryer wind...still hoping

I agree with lukey. Poor forecast for Essex,we had heavy rain for two hours and now it's dry with a temp of 2c And it looks to stay that way, my fish pond has not frozen over at all this winter. The next ramping is for Friday but again it comes from Mr Atlantic so don't expect much, only a blast from the East is a real winter snowfall .Some have been lucky today, but no blizzards and no real sub temps, . Blizzard conditions with -4 temps is a real winter blast.

I think it's all over ..it is for me now..2c forecast. All night ...then it all ramps up again for Friday, same problem it comes from the west with to much milder air mixed in...One question where was the beast from the East...that's a real winter blast- 761 replies

No reports of any heavy snow coming in...no blizzards ...have the major forecasters got it wrong. It's 3c here If this wrap around comes off then we are in with a north east wind, but the satellite pictures not showing that. Rain band now moving towards the low country's .if it comes back then we are in for another chance- 761 replies
