  1. Not looking forward to Wednesday. All the trees are still full-in-leaf, so even 50 mph winds could bring a few down.
  2. Thunderstorm warning, issued by the Met, for 4pm till 8pm. Covers in our region West Yorkshire and most of North Yorkshire (excludes the coast).
  3. The move of the top temps to our region might be happening. Coningsby allegedly at 40C according to the top 20 list on this site.
  4. Leconfield has been rising like a rocket. Gone from 32C at 11 to now 38C. It's probably got another 3 hours of warming, assuming the cloud doesn't stop it.
  5. The record is going to be obliterated. Got to be a good chance it's going to get close to or above 42C.
  6. What's Jersey's all-time record? As currently its 36.2C got to be close to it.
  7. Most of England is under Exceptional fire risk tomorrow according to the Met Office - Fire Risk Don't look at that often, but not sure its ever gone that high before.
  8. Leconfield Sar already at 26C at 9am. Hope they have a met office guy on site as that place has to be the favourite to break the records. 24C at Bingley.
  9. Meant to be cloudy today here till almost midday, but the sun is already breaking through. It could be the same as yesterday, where temperatures are higher than forecasted due to clearer skies.
  10. The hottest Met Office station in the region is Leconfield Sar near Hull, that is 31C. That one is probably the best placed to take the record for an official station on Tuesday. 28C here, has been for a few hours. Unbearable heat the sun is throwing out, feels a lot hotter, really not looking forward to the next 60 hours.
  11. You are right, there needed to be a gap for the Pennines, but it's a bit too big on the Eastern side. Sheffield and Bradford both should have been in the red area.
  12. Not just respiratory. I believe the biggest risk is from people with heart issues, once the temperature gets above 37C. It's also a factor once the temperature goes below 0C, but that's a lot easier to deal with in the UK.
  13. Haha, GFS 6Z going for 42C on Tuesday in parts of the region, with everywhere but the tops of Pennines and the coats being 40C, even Middlesborough is listed as 40C. This is farcical. The way it's going, somewhere in Yorkshire / Lincolnshire is almost certainly going to break the 40C.
  14. Ohh great. Overnight runs are showing 40C now for a lot of Yorkshire on Tuesday. Government needs to get the message out today as it's going to take a lot of planning to get water stations etc setup, never mind possibly shutting schools, trains etc.
  15. Those 35C+ temps for Monday / Tuesday as shown on some models better not happen. We just aren't built for that kind of heat, livestock could well die in the fields.
  16. Slightly surprised, they put the whole region, all the way up to Middlesborough in the warning area for Sunday. Even on the most extreme runs, it's not got much past 30C here, as it's always east that gets the most heat. Was hoping next weekend will be cooler here, but ways it's going that's not looking likely.
  17. The forecast for the forceable really does look good for us, with only a dip around Wednesday. Low 20's is great, any more, and it gets too hot here and limits what you can do. East Yorkshire is the exception and keeps being shown to be solidly in the 30's later next week, hope you enjoy it if it happens.
  18. Looking at the Radar and Bradford has been getting a pounding for close to an hour by a very localised cell. Surprised, it's not thrown any lightning.
  19. Serious situations still on going it seems, parts of Ironbridge are being evacuated as modelling is predicting the flood defences will be breached tonight. But currently Derby is flooding and its only 15cm off their record, but the stations data is an hour old, so could well have already been topped. For a storm that was named late, and only had yellow warnings on England its done a lot of damage to a lot of it. Rather telling as well is Derby wasn't predicted to be as bad as it is, so the EA's models got it wrong there, hopefully they have got it wrong the other way in Ironbridge and the defences hold.
  20. Wind isn't meant to get going till after midnight. Way its looking could well be 70 mph gusts here, which given as you say with the rain sodden ground its likely there to be a lot of trees and other things damaged.
  21. Squall line thankfully stopped about a mile south of us. Means good news for here, but the towns and villages around the Calder still got it though, along with Sheffield shortly.
  22. Its starting to rise past flood levels again. While its not caused massive issues up stream, so far, all this has to cause issues down stream as the Aire, etc is going to have a lot of water going in it over a long period.
  23. Estimates for today have dramatically dropped, as does appear on radar not to be as organised as was predicted. Also the worst of it seems to be going to Cumbria thankfully.
  24. From EA's website. E.g. Here is Hebden Bridge - /assets/images/govuk-opengraph-image.png River Calder level at Hebden Bridge - GOV.UK CHECK-FOR-FLOODING.SERVICE.GOV.UK Check the latest recorded river level and recent 5-day trend at Hebden Bridge Records are at the bottom of each page, which for almost all stations around here is the Boxing day floods.
  25. River Calder level at Hebden Bridge predicted to get to close to Boxing day levels tonight. Anyone near a river, stream needs to take care, as worst of the rain is later today going on the forecasts. Met and the EA have messed up again.
