  1. Warning now issued for Friday for the Pennines from Huddersfield northwards. UK weather warnings WWW.METOFFICE.GOV.UK Met Office UK weather warnings for rain, snow, wind, fog and ice. Choose your location to keep up to date with local weather warnings.
  2. Only a covering on fields here, just shows this was a very situational event. Thursday / Friday seems to becoming more likely, possibility of 10cm across our part of the Pennines from that one.
  3. This is one we need to watch as has potential to deliver 10cm+, if it happens. Tomorrow night / Tuesday morning looks like being possible again, that one keeps coming and going all the time. Only a dusting / few cm's from that if it happens.
  4. Think the Met have got the warning area right for this one, i.e. anywhere outside that small area will just get sleet.
  5. This is going to hit Earth today - G2 (Moderate) Geomagnetic Storm Watch Issued for 11 October 2021 | NOAA / NWS Space Weather Prediction Center WWW.SWPC.NOAA.GOV
  6. Almost looked like the building/thing it was attached to got destroyed and it went out due to that. It was seriously an amazing camera to survive the waves and wind, etc that it did.
  7. new update - officially bordering on Cat 5 with 150mph winds Hurricane Ida Update Statement WWW.NHC.NOAA.GOV
  8. 2 recon planes deploying Dropsonde's now so will get constant measurements at least for the next few hours.
  9. Last advisory has it at 140 mph, although that's just guess work on there part given no recons done between advisories. Hurricane Ida Public Advisory WWW.NHC.NOAA.GOV
  10. Over 12, but probably around 9 hours of possible intensification before then.
  11. Its officially now a category 4, new update issued given the rapid changes ongoing. Got to be good odds is going to be Category 5 at landfall. Hurricane Ida Update Statement WWW.NHC.NOAA.GOV
  12. Good chance of thunderstorms for the Pennine area today. Risk starts from around 3pm it seems. Something already seems to be forming south of Bradford.
  13. Lots of lightning from this storm. Netweather is showing us as having 99mm of rain before 1am, I REALLY hope that is wrong, but looking how its forming on the radar I can see why that might be possible. Already lost power once, can see it being a long night.
  14. Just had the heaviest Hail/Rain shower I have ever experienced. Thunder and Lightning as well, but that was just an afterthought given the volume of hail stones around 5mm in diameter. Fields turned white even though it was heavy rain as well, really freaky.
  15. Woke up to 5cm+ of snow here this morning. Was heavy when we went to bed but didn't seem to be making any depth then, so its a surprise to wake up to this amount.
  16. Been snowing moderatly here for about 2 hours with occasional heavy bursts, is bizarre though its not lead to more than a cm in depth. It does seem the clouds are saving themselves to dump it all on the hills
  17. Was just going to post the same. They look very organised and will probably last over to Manchester they are that strong.
  18. I am but we live 100km away from you North Yorkshire is very big. Really sod all snow here today, the showers have just not been strong enough at all to do anything anywhere it seems.
  19. Flood warnings all around South Bradford, and in other parts (Pudsey, Halifax, Wakefield). This rain really has come a lot heavier than forecast. The only river gauges in Bradford have all hit their highest ever recorded with the worst affected one looking like has got damaged. Various other spots look to be setting new records as well, going to be a nasty day for some people. The gauges in Leeds are also showing very high levels, hopefully people get the warnings.
  20. Heavy sleet here already. Amounts falling is well beyond what was forecast and wasn't meant to turn to sleet till this afternoon. Could be some surprise early snowfall.
  21. More than that think all the none short range models don't really factor it in the UK set-up as its just impossible to predict amounts other than it will happen. Short ranges are the best guess at likelihood for it and all of them seem to be going for showers from Saturday night onwards that get fully over the Pennines i.e. everywhere in this region will get some. Snow is near enough always now cast but convective really is radar / lamppost watching.
  22. It really does seem to be a poorly drawn area in regards to the North. We aren't even in it yet we know we can get hit hard by Easterlies here and are projected even on Met offices website to have constant snow from 6pm Saturday until there end of forecasts on Wednesday. Really needed to cover most of Cumbria and take it to about Blackburn imo.
  23. Met have split the warnings, now a separate one for Monday. Both now cover most of the Central and East UK. Seems to be they think heaviest is going to be down south.
