  1. It hit us and by looks its expanding. Rainfall was worse than the Squall last week, but its been the only flood level rain we had today. Thought areas to the south might miss it, but now looks possible it will hit them. 10 minutes of typhoon level rain and that looks like its it until after midnight apart from the odd shower. The models so far have really not got the handle on this at all.
  2. Hope that stuff to the west goes North of here as that has 'flash floods' written all over it.
  3. This next significant spell that is currently over North Wales looks nasty on the radar. Its a lot more organised than the mess that has come before it.
  4. Going on Severity that warning will likely be upgraded to a red if it looks likely to become true. Both Met and EA are really worried about the risk to South Wales it seems.
  5. Rain is already heavy at times; wasn't meant to be this bad this afternoon, hopefully not worrying precedent for tonight.
  6. Environment agency has issued the inevitable flood alerts. They are expecting it to flood widely it seems, understandably given the rainfall expected.
  7. Have a feeling this one is going to be worse. Predicted rainfall totals seems about the same, maybe higher, combined with the fact the ground is completely sodden from Ciara + rainfall this week and the ground can't adsorb any rainfall so its going to go straight into streams / rivers. Could well see significant flooding downstream from this one i.e. Leeds.
  8. Amber Warning area has been expanded to cover Harrogate and York now, also starts 3 hours earlier, which given the rain is due to start here from 8am is understandable.
  9. Amber warning already issued for Saturday/Sunday for the Calder Valley, Aire Valley and most of the dales. 2 properties near by have just left up there flood defences from last weekend as was silly taking them down.
  10. Snowing here now for a few hours and settling everywhere now as has beaten the wet ground back due to its relentlessness. Grass still sticking out of it though on the fields so hasn't any significant depth yet, but looking at the radar possibly its going to be showers all day.
  11. We were lucky, it wasn't as bad as Boxing day for us, but Calder Valley has been done over again. Oxenhope's gauge to the North of the valley recorded 20% more than on Boxing day. In the Aire valley region Keighley, Haworth, having significant flooding - again.
  12. Doubt we will see 15cm's here, even though we are likely to get about the most falling as the grounds now sodden. We would need it to go below freezing for a bit to get it to settle.
  13. We have significant flooding around here, that is looking to surpass the boxing day flooding. A chance the a high school in Cross Hills is going to be flooded which has never happened; environment agency has put a flood warning on a large chunk of Cross Hills, Glusburn and Sutton in Craven (3 small towns). Fire Brigade were dealing with flooding there 4 hours ago before that nightmare squall hit.
  14. Squall line approaching here, going very dark as it approaches. Very wet and windy here, no trees down but bits of minor damage. Its more the rain is the issue as is causing minor flooding.
  15. Key will be with the 12z's if they show its strengthened further then its time to start to worry. Mountain Weather Information Service are already forecasting 60 to 90mph gusts on the dales, with the threat gusts 100mph for the higher North Pennines. Don't know why the Met's warning area misses out a fair part of North Yorkshire given the short range models show a strong risk of 80mph gusts in that area.
  16. Not sure they have updated the text yet as its still largely the same as yesterday. I would go with the other sources if you need to take action now.
  17. Heavy snow here now, unexpectedly, starting to get a full covering. Question is when it warms up in a bit will it stay as snow or switch to sleet.
  18. Radar looks odd, as in wasn't predicted. Large band of precipitation is heading our way and covering a fair chunk of the western parts of Yorkshire (Sheffield excluded), if it doesn't die off. Might surprise some people in the next hour.
  19. Its the annoying stuff, thats just slushy and gets everything wet; was about 2 inches at most here. Looks pretty though and is still snow, all be it the worst type.
  20. Sleety mix has been happening a lot today. Also signs could be Snow from Wednesday onwards, Saturday especially keeps being shown as potential - even the Met office website is showing Snow for us then, which is odd at that range. Just rechecked Met now showing rain for Saturday, but never seen them show snow before at that range unless we already buried in the stuff.
  21. 6 Severe Flood Warnings now issued, all for the River Don around Doncaster. Its looking very serious.
  22. Looks like they built the flood defences to the last flood level, now that has been hit they are being topped.
  23. Just read that South Yorkshire Police are advising anyone in Meadowhall to stay and camp it out! Going to be grim for those who do given flood defences were likely built with 2007 in mind and this is going to go significantly beyond it going on the radar.
  24. The River Don at Meadowhall is approaching the 2007 record.
