  1. Red Warning has also been significantly increased in size. Now covers Dundee and almost to Perth.
  2. As I predicted - Amber now issued for Pennines. Note some models have totals higher than the Met say, so be aware. UK weather warnings WWW.METOFFICE.GOV.UK Met Office UK weather warnings for rain, snow, wind, fog and ice. Choose your location to keep up to date with local weather warnings.
  3. Looking at the predicted rainfall totals until Friday night, the Met really needs to move the warning area to cover the whole of the North and an Amber over the Pennines. It's not as bad as Eastern Scotland, but still a damaging amount of rain, given the ground is already completely sodden.
  4. Something else is going on, there has to be some feedback loop effect being triggered for this to keep rising so significantly. We knew this year and next were going to be warm, but this is warmer than most expected.
  5. Latest NHC prediction has this not even getting to Iceland, going to in effect die out. Today is its last day as a Hurricane, down to 34 knots by Sunday.
  6. Thankfully it switched; it was already looking to not be heading our way last night, now if the NHC is correct it's heading to Iceland, shouldn't be anything of note now for anyone.
  7. Met office has a warning out for rain from 6am tomorrow through to 6pm Wednesday for the Pennines. Up to 200mm of rain possible.
  8. Hurricane Nigel Public Advisory WWW.NHC.NOAA.GOV This is heading our way, if the NHC is correct. It is expected to become a cat 3 or 4 tomorrow, but is very unlikely to hit at Hurricane strength when it gets here at the weekend, but still given the trees are still in full leaf this is going to cause issues.
  9. It is still a fish, but the NHC now thinks it won't turn, at least for the next 5 days; if they are right it's going to get close to the west Indies and could be a very massive storm by then, so even if it does turn could well cause issues due to tidal swells etc.
  10. Latest advisory from the NHC has it expected to get to 140 knots wind speed in 2 days, which is just inside the Category 5 limit. Also, the updated cone isn't showing any eastwards motion now, still not really near any land, but it's getting closer and closer.
  11. Keep a track on Idalia, that's expected to stay at Tropical Storm strength when it gets back in to the Atlantic as currently it's not expected to cross much of mainland US; current path has that one around Bermuda this weekend Seems the weather gods are determined to bring you storms this year.
  12. You will, but its tracks as an ex-tropical storm have it getting close to the UK. This morning's advisory has it getting to near Iceland/UK by the Weekend.
  13. Here on top of the Pennines though it's very windy, surprised we aren't in a warning area as it's very gusty for the time of year.
  14. Got 15cm here, which is on the low side of what I was expecting, guess the system went a bit further south than anticipated.
  15. Lucky, not heard a peep from any of ours yet, but the High School (South Craven) are notorious to leaving it too late and the kids getting stranded due to no buses.
  16. Starting to get big flakes here. Hope to god the schools decide to close at Lunch or else its going to be a nightmare at 3pm.
  17. As many keep saying, models were showing basically only light amounts for now, the bulk is this evening / overnight. Think of this as just an added extra. Snow is now moderate bordering on heavy here, but flake size has increased but still only a couple of mm's in size. Schools will be panicking now.
  18. Moderate snow fall here already. Looking at the radar, the heavier stuff is due in 30 minutes / an hour. They really should have started the amber warning a lot earlier.
  19. 2 to 3 cm deep already here. Going to be great fun getting the kids from the schools, when they call the inevitable this afternoon and close early.
  20. Amber warning issued for 15:00 Thursday till 12:00 Friday for the Pennines, includes Leeds and Sheffield. UK weather warnings WWW.METOFFICE.GOV.UK Met Office UK weather warnings for rain, snow, wind, fog and ice. Choose your location to keep up to date with local weather warnings. Warning goes all the way down to Derby and almost up to Newcastle.
  21. Snow started falling here now. Met office website has it snowing here from 3pm till 9pm, heavy at times - this is for today. We weren't expected any at all today, just shows how it can all change at a moment's notice with snow.
  22. Current radar is interesting that band has really got some persistence, heavy stuff falling in York if it's true. FYI. Road cameras and weather conditions WWW.NORTHYORKS.GOV.UK View pictures of road conditions across North Yorkshire from our weather station cameras. North Yorkshire added loads of new cameras / weather stations on the exposed parts largely for snow over past couple of years, they finally have a good use.
  23. Can see Thursday day time being widespread, but Thursday / Friday night being a Pennines only thing, i.e. turns to rain at low level.
  24. Even the Met Office website is now starting to show snow for us. That's always the sign I look for, as until that shows snow it's not likely to happen. Hopefully we have some foot+ depths at some point this year, as lately we keep having these at most 10 cm deep ones and not had anything close to a foot now for 7 or 8 years.
  25. Met office warning issued till 1pm today for Thunderstorms. Can't remember them issuing one so short notice before without any preciding warning.
