  1. Pretty sure we did get a Red for 2013's event, but that was a North Westerly and that cut off some villages for over a week and resulted in wiping out whole herds of sheep as they were buried. Was very much a Pennines / Cumbria / North Wales event though that one for the 3 foot+ stuff.
  2. Putting it mildly. They are going for national emergency amounts of snow. 'Worst' place on GFS in England (other than Pennines near Scotland) is Lincolnshire with 35cm's according to GFS.
  3. Potential for -2c Ice days this weekend in rural spots. Going to be fun for the animals if that happens, especially if it coincides with snow.
  4. Don't look at the radar, the forecast stuff is approaching and looks nasty. That stuff this morning was not meant to be anywhere near that intensity, hopefully the main storm doesn't do the same.
  5. Looking at the radar flooding will be immanent already in parts of the Ribble and Lancashire Calder's catchment areas. The Aire has already broke its banks in a few spots, this is worrying as the worst of the rain wasn't meant to be till this afternoon / tonight.
  6. Its gone more North than predicted, was heavier than predicted as well, wasn't really meant to be very heavy till this afternoon. Aire is going to flood for certain, even with just the rain that has already fallen as the worst spots have been on its catchment areas. edit: Just checked already some stations on the Aire are past flood level.
  7. Met office is updating the warnings now - and they have put almost all the region - along with all the East Midlands and parts of Eastern England under the Amber warning now. Also mentions the 200mm again. Probably not insignificant odds of a red warning for the Pennines given the Aire, Calder etc are very high (Aire even flooded in parts yesterday).
  8. Massive change to the warnings issued - the Amber now covers half of England and is only 50 miles away from London. Other warnings going to be issued as well for North, but fair to say a Red is likely for the Pennines given river levels.
  9. This not forecast rain that has fallen this morning is the last thing we needed given what's coming tomorrow. Rivers are going to be very high even before the deluge hits.
  10. Also covers us in this part of North Yorkshire as well The Aire might end up being the most affected area.
  11. Met office has issued the warning for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday - up to 200mm of rain. UK weather warnings WWW.METOFFICE.GOV.UK Met Office UK weather warnings for rain, snow, wind, fog and ice. Choose your location to keep up to date with local weather warnings.
  12. Warning for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday now issueds that covers the western most parts i.e. the Pennines. Covers all the way down to Sheffield. UK weather warnings WWW.METOFFICE.GOV.UK Met Office UK weather warnings for rain, snow, wind, fog and ice. Choose your location to keep up to date with local weather warnings. Can't remember the met office ever giving a warning for possible of 200mm rainfall. This really does seem a potential event, keep having totals around 100mm for those days for our neck of the woods. Inevitable it gets upgraded to amber nearer the time, although probably not covering much of our region.
  13. Still snowing moderately here, but now getting worried about tonight and the -10C predicted. Going to be fun tomorrow morning trying to deal with the animals.
  14. Turned to snow here just after 7:30, have around 3cm+ already. Hope it doesn't turn to rain at some point, not forecast too, as could be a 10cm+ total by the end of this.
  15. Band of rain that is running along the welsh border will start to hit the region soon. Unlikely to hit us here on the East border, but Liverpool etc could be in for some showers, no lightning yet from it but given the heat its bound to happen at some point.
  16. Turned to rain here around 9am. Still some of the snow lingering around as its not rained much today / snowed since, although the radar is lively. Met has us for Heavy snow from 3pm till past Midnight, I will believe it when it happens.
  17. Snow here and already a thick covering over everything (prob a few cm's in depth). Due to be a lot more this morning as well, going to be a 'fun' school run.
  18. We had over 6cm's of snow here. Problem is the rain that has come after it has been heavy at times. Rain + Snow melt has meant more floods. Some of our neighbours are now flooded for the 4th time in 3 weeks.
  19. Minor flooding already here, and the radar looks very bad, Looking at the radar its not really making it over the Pennines so far, but be warned if it does its not fun at all.
  20. The 10 day forecast on this website (which is just the GFS output) has scared me, its showing over 170mm of rain for here over than next 10 days. It won't happen as its GFS, but it shows we are most likely going to keep getting an absurd amount of rain.
