    I don't envisage anything stronger than I have already experience. I wasn't old enough to be aware of the 1987 storm. It has been publicised as a big big event but then that'll always be the case. A post from the MO suggested gusts of around 48mph for here and areas surrounding with 60 or so on the coasts. Doesn't seem much worse than we have had in past years to me.

    Just out of interest what sort of uppers do you did over the UAE? Is there a sure where I can see charts like here without cost? Sorry to be off topic.

    Yeah I'm off tomorrow and back on, yes you guessed it, 28th when the breakdown is due.

    I for one will be happy to see warm and an sunshine in August. I return to the UK on 28th and having seen a breakdown projected I will be disappointed to come back to cooler and wetter weather than when I left.

    It is looking like the change will occur around 27th or so, heat like what could occur prior to that can't possibly go on longer than that as it is the conditions required coming off for a start never mind for a sustained period.

    I'd be better off rescheduling my trip away to the 27th as it seems that's where our breakdown will he and next week could be the warmest. Absolutely typical that, if lt does get to say 35c that's so very rare, after a peak like that you can expect if to stop as we have seen when we have hit such highs.

    Some hints at 27/28 which is subsequently the weekend I return from Dubai. By then it is hard to believe warm and settled weather sould continue any longer too.The GFS doesn't show quite as high temps and there's a dip on the ensembles?

    Interesting conversation regarding chances of a plume possibly edging us towards the mid 30s, next week. Though now it looks as though the breeze will pick up dropping us to 26c/27c. I'm off to Dubai this weekend and with FI starting to show something more unsettled I expect to return to a cooler UK than when I leave. Plus surely it is unheard of having high pressure with warm settled conditions in UK for a month or so should things have taken us through like this to early Aug?

    BBC forecast seems to show a dip rather than an increase though?For example Sat is 25c.

    Talking of cloud, there's quite a big around here this morning and we are quite some distance away from the coast. Though the dew points look high.

    Yes I have pointed out the 33c that was in FI earlier today which was beyond next weekThe UKMO came out pretty warm but the GFS now not in full agreement with that idea.

    Turnaround from the 18c uppers but then that was always going to happen. The likelihood is low 20s maybe a mid 20 with a bit more cloud about too as next week progresses. Maybe thundery to start the week? Not quite the 33c we saw on earlier runs.

    Sunday looking quite a bit cooler should Saturday's warmth come off.

    Breakdown starting this weekend. Saturday likely to be the last 25c. It looks like that could be where things are heading.

    Blimey that is some downgrade, few days it showed 32c for Sunday.

    Temperatures getting lower and lower for here and East as next week gets closer. Mid 20s at a push now for Tuesday. Heatwave category it isn't.

    When this happened in the last warm spell, a lot of cloud plagued this area. I thought we might have escaped, temperatures were ok though considering sun was limited.

    Quite a lot of excitement, looks better away from here though. Wednesday onwards becoming warm rather than very warm as it shifts westwards bringing the coolness from the east.

    33c shown on a chart, lush, I wish. Screen shot as that's one for keeping just to say with seen 33c this side of 2006 hahaha

    I'd say it's still uncertain if the warm spell will last as long as now showing. Previous runs have shown a cool down from midweek.
