  1. We have something falling in Poole (not snow) and I think temp is rising a bit.
  2. Wow just wow. I honestly did not expect this. I understand the worst is yet to come? Oh my! At the moment it's about on par with 2010 but I'm sure it will surpass that. Grit isn't doing anything at all. The roads are lethal. Everyone is trying to get home from town as shops have closed early. It's a spectacular event here in Poole
  3. Always the same for our region. There's still time but MO know their stuff and their warnings are, more often than not, spot on. We have to face facts. Snow down here is rare and when it's marginal, it's likely to be rain or sleet. Bring on spring lol
  4. It's possible. Keep an eye on warnings. They can and do change and not always for the better either.
  5. The weather will do what it wants to do but wowzers, we could be in the firing line next week! Not going to lie, walking to work in snow at 6am won't be fun. Especially when it freezes. But I still kind of want it lol
  6. That was stunning. Never seen snow like it. Proper alpine snow. Very soft and coated everything beautifully. I hope we get some of that again. Photos don't do it justice.
  7. As much as I love snow it won't be fun walking to work at 6am. Especially when it all freezes. But I kind of want it too ?
  8. I don't personally care for how long it will last. 12 hours of laying snow would do me. It can thaw away then for all I care. We've had nothing for years now. I genuinely feel there is something decent coming. Let's hope it doesn't sit in the channel!
  9. I am actually feeling positive. The cold is coming. The ensembles show that. Just seen MO 6 to 30 day forecast suggesting southern areas could see significant snow. It's about time. We haven't even had a dusting. Just some very wet flurries.
  10. I would take that. Seeing as I would probably have to walk to work at 6am. Just being selfish of course lol
  11. Our best snow in recent times was from an easterly channel low. We had several hours of falling snow from that. If I recall correctly, it wasnt modelled until the last minute. Cold air first, then wait for low pressure. Though it can be VERY painful to watch channel lows stay in the channel. That's happened before too ?
  12. I will go for walk the plank at the moment. I think it was 2010, it wasn't until the very last high res model came out the night before that showed we in central southern England could be in line for a pasting. Not in a weeks time or more. I remain highly cynical until it happens. On the flip side, we have had severe weather warnings, only to get absolutely nothing. I do love all the excitement of the build up, it's part of the fun but experience has left me not getting overly excited until I see it falling from the sky lol.
  13. Another run, doom and gloom, it's all over! Summary of MAD thread. They should try living here. No real snow for about 8 years now lol
  14. I gazed at the mad thread as I often do but this morning, geez! I wouldn't want to be a mod on there. It's the OT posts, then those criticising the OT posts with OT posts and then those defending their OT posts with more OT posts. ? Anyway, BBC are saying there will be an easterly flow next week. Providing that isn't dry, I believe it will be the best chance for us snow starved south coast. In the past, battle ground scenarios leave us on the warm sector with rare wet slush if we are lucky. A bitter easterly with channel low, yes please! That's my order ?
  15. You in Upton? I'm about 2 miles from there and there's been no 'snow' here. It was sleet or very wet snow at best. Must be hugely marginal
  16. Yep, thunder. I heard one clap and it was very heavy sleet/snow. Nothing has settled. It was too wet
  17. I'm seeing rain in Poole. Maybe the odd flake chucked in but mostly rain tbh
