Unfortunatly it wont happen. Time and again the models have shown easterlies/northerlies only for them to disapear in short order. In fact im supprised that anyone is taking anything +96hrs seriously. Lost all faith in the models this winter. Massive snow events downgrading to mere rain within 24hrs of the event itself. This weekend i fear is going to be a non event for most except those in the east yet again, hasnt anyone noticed that the cold air just hasnt been there this winter -12 850's isnt tat cold considering past winters have had lower not that far away. Day time maxes of 0c i would consider cold and v cold would be maxes of -2c and below but i suppose my view has been tainted by the 2009/2010 winter where i had lying snow for a month and temps on the whole below zero. I suppose that winter really was my once in a lifetime event.....shame

When people are talking snow events it would be nice to add a location, please correct me if im wrong but for west/northwest etc theres no snow???

And the North West dont forget. The 2m temps arent that great either. @150 the atlantic is into the UK by 156 its showing rain in the north east.

LOL only way it could get fairer is for the PPN to not head into SE at all and magically appear over the NW. This winter i have had the sum total of 3mm of snow which has been blown of the pennines behind me LOL

You know the worst of it will be this winter will probably go down as an all time great. Yet as far as i can remember 09/10 had a much wider snow cover as seen by sat images but hardly gets mentioned.....

Not cert but all 3 models are now showing it for similar timescales. God i hope im wrong but the agreement between the 3 doesnt fill me with confidence. Last nights ECM was epic but never destined to verify really was it? GFS and UKMET both have PPN getting into the northwest with varying intensity but again expect it to be down graded just like the one gone. IM sorry im not full of optimisum this morning but watching that front stall less than 5 miles away from me really has takem the spirit out of me

Well witht he breakdown on the horizon and having very little snow, just stuff blown of the pennines really, I fear that this sunday/monday will be me last chance of snow in this spell. This spell might be the only one this winter for me too, i hope im wrong but with the pv relocating i fear that will be winter over for me.

So why the hell are the meto as of a few minutes ago tweeting heavy snow for areas north of manchester??

OK midnight New24 forecast showed no snow over any part of the NW upto 14:00 on friday yet he then goes on to show the meto wanring that clearly shows the warning covering much of the south of the region upto manchester north and say 10cm possible?? Just lost all faith of the BBC weather forecast

Now that has to be more current than anything. These are hugely important to aircrew and not liable to error winds getting close to limits for smaller aricraft there too(gusts)

The beginning 17/12/09:- By 20/12/09 Note slight thaw However by 22/12/09 This happened On my way to check on my dad between Dukinfield and Hyde Now i must point out i remember winter 82 or was it 83 anyway it was THAT cold one and the next pic was taken where i lived at this time but its 20/12/09, Snow here is at this point deeper than 82/3 Stockport And then carnage 05/01/10-06/01/10 Sorry if this bored the hell out of you but it does illustrate that nothing is impossible and these events DO happen i just hope that it really doesnt turn out to be THAT once in a lifetime
