I can confirm light snow in Birchwood, Warrington

Guys im currently in work in warrington and have a drive back to ashton @16:30. IF this does hit at 2-3pm what would you rekon snow dpths might be by 16:30???

Theres no chance of this staling out west and not making it to our shores is there?

That front looks to be very slow on sat24. I wonder if ti will ever make it to the SE at that rate. That of course would imply that it stalls over us and central uk.

Am i right in saying that the top chart zonal winds 1hpa, once the graph goes negative that means winds have reversed yes?

About an inch or so in ahton/dukinfield when i woke, drove to work M60 not bad as is 62 lol no snow in warrignton where i work though

Regional discussion thread is the place for discussing weather in your back yard i believe. This is after all the model discussion thread and i believe the models encompass the whole of the uk( they did the last time i looked) I actually thought this was the place to discuss the models as a whole for the whole of the country. I have been floating around on here for a fair while now and have noticed that there is alot of IMBY posts on here. I personally have gotten used to it, and i look for posts by individuals on here that give a fairer representation of what is going to happen nationally. I think what BT was alluding to is that posts that solely relate to the SE, of which there are quite a few, can confuse new comers here

W12 if you get paid to do somthing that makes it a profession.

I personally think W12 is a forum troll. He's mentioned several times that he's a pro forcaster and yet after spending all day on this thread stiring away we still have no forcast from him.....strange. To those who say that if a LRF gets updated its no longer an LRF......err what is it then??? Short?? Forgive me if im wrong but the forcast goes upto and including August no?? Thats 2 and a bit months upto the end of august, if that isnt long then what is? I would much rather an LRF that does get updated periodically to reflect recent changes and to maintain some from of accuracy for the 2 months ahead, rather than have a forcast that is completely wrong in 2 months time. If you want an LRF to not change and be static then maybe it shouldnt be called an LRF maybe more like a Guess/prediction

I have now :smiliz23: and those charts are making abit more sense now. Those 2 charts that WS just posted look similar to some form last year .

Not sure i understand what those charts mean for us?? Does the 2nd one suggest cold??

Cheers mate. Shame about the split not being forcast anymore would have been nice to see that again still its looking cold for jan if i read GP right and you never know the vortx still might split/displace

Can i ask a question/s?? Has the vortex always been prone to split, for instance in the 90's early 2k was it common then or is what happened last year and this extremly rare? Is it the norm for the strat to warm during winter months and is this proccess repeated for the southern hemisphere?

I would agree that its a bit OTT. Some of this is interesting as im leanring as i go along on here. Further down the page he bemoans the lack of response from the papaers however when you read the actual e-mail he sent to them i can see why they havent replied. You just get the impression that he's trying to big himslef up. I wouldnt mind if some of what he says does come true though.....who'd have thought 2 snowy winters in a row eh??

Im wondering if all of this is leading to another good winter like the one gone. Probably in the wrong post but im still learning and find this fascinating stuff.
