I am having a laugh to myself after looking at the models right now!! Where is the Artic? No Siberian winter we were supposed to have? So many people have got it so wrong!!!

I don't understand why zonal means game over that absolute nonsense, we have had a fair bit of snow up here this month and there has been no easterly in sight!! Zonal does not mean winters over it can produce snowy conditions at times!! People need to take the models for what they are and not for what they want to see. This is the UK after all we don't get severe cold year in year out the last two years have been exceptional for this country!! As far as I can see we are having a normal winter so far, it is only December after all let's keep watching the models and see what happens there maybe a few surprises in store yet!!

Snowing lightly in Penicuik!!

Over the other side of the Pentland Hills in Edinburgh there is no Snow, Penicuik was just far enough south to catch the Snow and higher altitude!!

Been snowing in Penicuik for the last couple of hours but not lying even at 190m asl, I said earlier 400m asl would be the perfect heights for Blizzards and lying snow tonight!!! I thought the Met Office forecast of snow to low levels was a bit of cover just incase it did happen!!!

Just raining in Edinburgh did not expect anying else here!!

I take it you mean the upper air temps are dropping 1-2c? It's just looking at the charts they will go up if the low stays on the same track!!

I don't understand why the Met Office are forecasting snow down to 100m, it's going to be more like 400m going by the charts!! When the heavier precip moves in later the upper temps will rise I think it will be a rain and wind event for most!! Northern England will hold onto the cold uppers for a longer period!!!

I am quite happy to see a continuation of the cool zonal weather!! One day heavy rain then gales then 3 inches of snow last night bring it on!!!

Severe Gales here already and they have yet to move up a gear, wow!!!

Looking at the latest BBC forecast its looking like North and NE Scotland will see the worst of the Snow this time with the Western central belt not really affected as winds will me more NNW. Looking like snow showers will only affect Western coastal areas only, unlike the last cold snap when showers were driven inland towards Glasgow and West Lothian.
