  1. Yes true but that will be southgraded as we get closer to wedensday, all i can say is i love cold and snow but would like to see atlantic win through for a more mobile set up!! Fed up with this non event cold and dry weather we have had over last two week. We do better up here in scotland with a more mobile pattern in winter Yes just like GFS has been showing mod/heavy snow forecast for sun evening for here for days now and oh its gone GFS is a waste of space
  2. So much for the scottish snow fest this week its been dry here all week, england is looking to do a lot better in the next 7 days
  3. not looking good for the central belt this week for snow, not due to upper temps but lack of precip missing out yet again!!! Feb has been pants for snow in this area
  4. Looking like another fairly dry week coming up across the central belt most precip to the north and south of us due to us sitting in the centre of the low!!! Bring on spring now
  5. Dont see those quality charts being like that this time next week, i can see it ending up a northerly with the usual suspects getting the snow!! Lets face it this time last week models were showing a raging east wind and heavy snow showers for east central so where is all the snow
  6. Its been snowing here since 5am this morning 2inches on ground and still snowing, snow lying in South Edinburgh looking at the traffic cams
  7. Yeah but GFS has been and still is consistant in bringing the easterly in next weekend. No its not going to be 1947 all over again people on here and on two website were getting a bit carried away. I can see a 3 or 4day event with snow in the east biggest threat east and south england
  8. Dont know about weeks the thaw is in full swing here as well quite surprised how much so comsidering the altitude we are sitting at. i would rather have high pressure sitting on top of us than this mild north sea dross. lowest temp in Edinburgh overnight was 5c in c centre and 4c on the outskirts. pretty mild!!! Thats was readings on my Taxi temp gauge. I sometimes think cold zonal is better for the central belt, only lasts a few days at a time but you get some big snow showers sweeping through from the west on a direct westerly. I remember a couple of years ago we got 10 inches of snow in 24hrs from showers on cold west winds big showers dumping a inch or 2 at a time.
  9. I am no weather expert by any means but my opinion looking at mondays fax chart, that is a long fetch of ESE winds coming over the north sea surely showers will develop. Any views??
  10. If thats the case how on a direct NE wind do the showers always miss Edinburgh there is no mountains in the way!! As what happened the last few days
  11. Looking at the GFS precip charts it looks as though we are going to have periods of sleet/snow on and off for most of next week, with hillier areas and inland having snow throughout. How reliable are these charts as Meto seem to have us down for mainly dry until tuesday at the earliest?
  12. The METO 6-15day forecast keeps it cold with more snow, more so for NE England and Eastern Scotland milder weather into far southwest and west at end of forecast with Rain, sleet, snow Does Edinburgh do ok for snow from a ESE wind or do the showers bypass us and directly hit Fife??
  13. I think the high pressure will spoil the fun at the weekend for scotland with all the snow action further south, Edinburgh will have its snow sheild on as always cant beleive just 20-30 miles south of us they have had 50cm yet Edinburgh has only had about 2-3inches max out of a 3week cold spell. We have a foot of snow here in Penicuik but thats fallen and not thawed due to alltitude over the cold spell.
  14. High pressure still to close and will spoil the fun
  15. Cloud moving NE to SW looks like the wind direction starting to change
  16. About 10 inches on top of my garage there has been no thaw since before xmas so its a top up each time it snows! I just want to see mega snow lol Could be a streamer situation looking at that 2nd chart lol
  17. Is there enough easterly in the wind to feed the the showers inland?
  18. Met office site has snow showers becoming frequent and heavier in lothian and borders how are they forecasting this with a northerly? only the extreme coastal parts will catch any going from past experience, am i missing something here any views??
  19. Looks like the central belt will miss out once again while the rest of the country north and south of us gets plastered with big falls of snow.
  20. How much snow are we looking at through the central belt tue/wed?
  21. Looking at the met office 5day forecast for Edinburgh the winds are from N/NNW i dont see where people are getting the north easterly,Apart from troughs i can see most of the snow showers missing the central belt. Any views?
