I appreciate that those in the west of the region have been very unfortunate and I feel their pain,I have been there many times over the years but at least they received snow a couple weeks ago when those further east got none

I beg to differ... nothing down on the West Sussex coast, unless your calling my now disappeared 0.0025 cm just enough to make a snowball-bearing an event?

Those of us around Worthing have not had a decent fall in years... probably 2013, I'm sure Sleety will remember. I don't begrudge anyone the snow they have and I hope they make the most of it, but don't fall into the trap of thinking everyone in the region has seen a decent fall because a lot have not.

My hopes are pinned on tonights possible streamer or a snowy breakdown

The alien artefact off Thanet must have woken up and destroyed everything!  Actually I have noticed there are several such anomalies in that area, but the one off Thanet's east coast is by far the largest.

I researched the locations of coastal wind farms and the Thanet wind farm matches the location of that rather large and constant blob perfectly.

Fellow snow nuts...can someone help me out.  I'm in Great Horkeseley, north of Colchester on the Suffolk border.  I've been so excited since Monday and counting the days down.  So why do I feel so flat now?  It still looks decent for my neck of the woods...why do I feel like it's been downgraded?  Why am I feeling on a downer?

No idea... I'd swap places with you in an instant. You'll do well up there.

Wow the thread is busy not seen it like this in a very long time you can feel the excitement in air what’s wonderful the areas which are set to benefit most, have seen sod all (except North Downs) so that’s wonderful.

Sweet spot for me N/NW Kent by Monday lunchtime with also streamers following, some places could have seen more than a foot of snow (30cm), imo potential for this to be snowier than 2018 in places.

Except right down here on the West Sussex coast... sweet fa down here so far this winter. In fact the last white stuff was a slight dusting in 2018. The Eastward move if the models have it correct will cost us down here, so I'm hoping they have it wrong.

I knew I shouldn't of got my hopes up but I never learn... good luck and enjoy peeps that see loads and don't forget to post loads of snowy pics

amazing all this talk of snow for the east coast at the weekend and yet the met office have us in down for rain in thanet even with them showing a north/easterly wind, oh well at least I can enjoy the photos of you lucky people that get some snow.....good luck peeps

I think patience is going to be needed for this one... we may miss out, we may not. 30 miles either way can make a huge difference for us on the coast and nothing will be resolved at this stage as the models are still toying with the position of the LP.

  6. Ahh 1991 yes indeed what a great February that was. I lived in East london at the time, left for work at 05.30 and it had just started to snow... I didn't take much notice really as it wasn't as rare back then. I Left London E15 just after six heading to Kent with about a dozen deliveries to make it was still only snowing moderately.

By the time I had got to Sidcup no more than 10 or so miles away it was chucking it down... huge flakes the size of old 10 pence pieces. The snow got lighter the further into Kent I got, in fact it had stopped by the time I got to Ashford with around 4 inches.

On the way back up the A2 I was surprised to see snowploughs working in tandem to keep the road open at the London end! I seem to remember being pretty cross at the time because I had managed to get to every delivery across Kent in a 17 tonne truck but most places were shut because their staff couldn't get in.

8 inches of level snow had fallen during the day back home... definitely one of the better events I've seen along with 79,87 and 2010.

There is a twist to this story though... 2 days later I flew out of Gatwick to Tenerife for a week long Club 18-30 reunion. Sunny,72°, beaches, booze and women... and there was me missing the snow back home!!

Sorry if I've rambled on and bored you... happy memories.

  7. Well the standoff continues this Morning... GFS v the Euro's, the American model is ploughing its own furrow here but that doesn't mean it's wrong. It does have a history of overdoing LP's and this may be one of those occasions. Don't forget Paul Sherman nicknamed the GFS - GooFuS for a reason and it has led us up the garden path on many occasions. BUT... don't rule out the possibility of it calling this one right.

    For me right now... 50/50.

In my opinion all peeps living approx South of M20 towards coast are going to be dissapointed with this winter.  We are just not going to be blessed being in the right place for snow.  Expect nothing and you cannot be let down.  One plus is that we will still have vaccine centre open and operating whilst up north may not.  This means if they bring tiers back after lockdown we may well be the first down here to be free.  And I would prefer freedom to snow this year.

To be honest I've already thrown the towel in... if it snows great... if it doesn't it's not the end of the world. I want a few dry days right now... the gardens sprouted it's own water features!

Latest models suggesting the kick in the g**ads for us in the SE continues with yet more rain whilst the areas that have already seen lots of the white stuff continue to get buried. Let’s hope the MO are calling this right.

They may call it right re: the Easterly which gives the north the North a battering with the white stuff as per 06z Gfs, whilst the SE still gets hammered with rain... fine margins.
