So true. Perhaps Kent/Sussex coasties can join our socially distant snow gang as well.

Not sure what’s worse - watching it pass so closely as snow or have it hit you and rain?
Both feel bad I only got the slightest dusting in 2018 when 10 miles up the road had loads, and many times like today just too marginal.
It's what comes with living on the coast... I just wished it wasn't!

Going exactly the way I thought, unreal, even central london has falling snow
I feel your pain... much as I'm happy for everyone seeing snow, it's a bit of a kick in the teeth for us on the coast.

This is gu35 at the moment. Excuse the missus singing to the dog in the background. Both excited haha.
So jealous right now...

Good luck to all those in the firing line for snow... it's a balmy 5° here now, so popping on my shorts and getting the bbq out for later... when the rain has stopped.

Right on the South coast with 3° and a dew point of 0° with an onshore breeze... I'm not even going to bother looking

Some nice photos - really was a transient event nothing more - to get a decent event in SE we just need different Synoptics - channel lows are just too rare so Thames / Kent streamers are the only Synoptics I get interested in
there’s some great photos in the Yorkshire thread - they certainly had a decent event I just find the snidey SE remarks boring
I won't venture into that thread anymore for that exact reason... I was going to congratulate them on their snowfall but left before rising to the bait!

Snowing in Folkestone. The DP is edging up though. Currently -0.6c (it was -1.1c at 6am). Nice to see it falling near sea level on the south coast (even if it is briefly).
Not all the South coast... not seen one flake here yet.

Just popped in some of the other regionals... mostly rain or icy rain being reported, just started to rain down here on the south coast too.
It can only get better... hopefully.

I normally do alright here, oddly enough, 70m asl isn't the greatest, but it does seem to be enough here, normally I wouldn't bother, had a covering on the 4th December, other than that, my last proper snowfall was march 2013, I missed most of the snow in the last 2 bfte
That makes 2 of us... but nothing in Dec and only an icing sugar dusting in 2018. 8 years now surely our luck has to change soon but I'm not expecting anything bar rain tonight/tomorrow. Good luck to those further north and east.

the gfs p run earlier was excellent for the SE,the ecm not so good, still not seen a flake here this winter, lets hope the gfs p is on the money
Nothing since 2018, and to be honest that was just the merest icing sugar dusting.

Morning
Up to 4.9c this morning, like a heatwave
Mod thread seems happier this morning, though there is a lot of self congratulating going on between several members taking up a lot of posts. You can tell when someone is still newer to the thread when they start talking about things being nailed on outside the 72 hour period...
Setting themselves up for a possible fall... we have all been down this road many times before.

It is one of those synoptic situations where we have come very close to having a notable cold spell, but the butterfly flapped it’s wing in the wrong direction for us!

Thankfully the defences have held for carlisle and the rivers seem to be peaking. Metoffice seriously underestimated the rain
And overestimated the wind in some areas...

Could be a number of places along the south coast, the needles isle.of wight seems.favourable, but there's shoreham, beachy head etc etc, may even get a surprise from the forecasted squall lines that estofex are on about, either way, some very lively weather over the next 18hrs or so
The Needles has to be right up there surely... but Lydd could run it close.

Don't worry Kentspur you are not alone... the Worthing snow shield has been in action all this winter and held strong! I wish someone would break the ruddy thing!
