Back yard just now. What looks to be the shallowest point is about 6 or 7 inches above ground level https://www.dropbox.com/s/cb44iowl14tm73e/20130121_173608.jpg

Im amazed the electricity is still on, if we get through tonight without it going off it will be a miracle.
Some people are still amazed we have electricity here Keith

Getting spoilt still in Consett. Bottom half of the kids garden slide is buried and it's still whipping down

Blizzard conditions in consett.
Aye just had a look out the window after being asleep for a few hours. What a belter!!! Might as well cancel me alarm to get up for work ha.
-
Thought consett was done for the day but looks likeb things are on the up again. Hope it absolutely lamps it down the neet!

Can't see that being a problem down here today but we are having light snow in Bacup so I imagine it is snowing in Todmorden.
Got some jobs in bacup as well at the weir hotel. Don't think I'll have time today tho
-
Doubt we've had a thaw, it's just that we were right on the northern edge of the snow band and got bugger all from it..
That said though I'm higher ASL than Todmorden so actually have a fair covering now, if you can call a couple in inches a fair covering.
Wife's just rang from home to say it's really heavy and taxis have been taken off the roads. Gutted haha.
-
Feeling really homesick now. Wife has just rang to say she can't get to work as taxis in consett have been taken off roads. Meanwhile I'm lancashire in some really light sleety stuff
-
I'm just over the hill from Todmorden and the main roads are clear here so I can't see there being a problem.
We just haven't had the volume of snow to cause problems although what has fallen has blown about.
What the conditions are like higher up towards the dales/NE though I can't say.
Thanks. Just arrived todmorden. Roads clear all the way. Have u had a thaw here? Was expecting loads more going off yesterday's radar. Meanwhile it's bleaching down back home. Typical.
-
At huddersfield and nothing major here. Wish I'd stayed at home. Coming down nicely in consett
-
Wish I was back in Durham. Looks like I'm missing out.
-
On my from Durham to todmorden. Are the roads ok down there? Think the worst bit could be when I get past harrogate.
-
On my way from consett to burnley. Should be fun!
-
seen heavier stuff in me santa shaker.
It's still more than we saw xmas day so try to enjoy it
-
Heavier here in Consett.
Was beginning to think we weren't going to get any mate. Good old Consett
-
glittery stuff in consett. looks like shards of glass. looks nice and all that but would swap it for a blizzard anyday
-
Well, I'm not near Burnley. It's about 15 miles east of here. Daresay others posting in here are nearer.
I suspect Burnley (like us) will have last Sun/ Mon's snow and ice lingering hardly melted, though all main roads clear. Everything falling is sticking as ground is so cold. So much depends on tonight. I'd expect Pennines east of Burnley will get a far fall tonight with some drifting as this snow is very loose and powdery.
Cheers. Not sure if I'm happy or disappointed that I'll be able to get to work by the sounds of it. Trouble is when I get there a lot of the jobs I look at are on rough country roads so still undecided. Work or Xbox?
