  1. Well, that band of snow out at sea is just getting bigger and bigger!

I did say earlier today that the snow will arrive today, but later than the last couple of days. (heehee blows own trumpet, before anyone else says it). I also told my boss today that today may end up being the snowiest yet. If I'm going to be right the showers better get a move on eh? Never mind, I'd rather be wrong if it means the band crosses the coast at very slow speed and takes it's time moving slowly across the region, stalling over Ryton !

Don't forget,IF the band doesn't disappear up it's own bottom at the coast and continues moving at the pace it is, we COULD get a proper dumping.

    Here's hoping.

    Karl

What's your guesstimate for when it'll hit land travelling at this speed? About 2115 I'm thinking.

I just hope to god that it doesn't burn itself it before it hits Consett haha.

  2. I can see the shower clouds just off the coast, but they have been there all day waning back and forth, all to play for in the next few hours.

Looks like the North east will get a pasting. More convection happening 100 mile out some big showers amongst that area.

Wow thats one 'ell of an icicle Davy.. I'd ask the people who live there if i could cut that down and stick it in a freezer, best take it down to ya local butchers only walk-in-freezers could accomodate that monsta'..!!

Aye it's a belter. The freezer in the warehouse at work runs at -27 but I don't know when I'm gonna be able to get there - such a shame lol.

It made me laugh before when I was reading some of the threads covering the South. People on there were reporting icicles up to 4 or 5" long!!!!!

Hope ya right. I've enjoyed my day off from work today and would quite happily take another one tomorrow.

  4. The one just to the North of you, this one (postcode is my work at Hownsgill Park)...

Looks very close whether it will hit or not. It could even come down to which side of Consett you are on.

EDIT: Just seen the 21:35 radar image, still looks close, you'll possibly get the edge but miss the main core.

Would be lovely if it did but as you say I think we might just scrape the eastern edge of it. Here's hoping though!

  5. There's a lump of heavy stuff that might just hit Consett, if it does I'd say there's another 40-50 minutes of heavy snow in that.

Looks like missing here so after it stops here I'll be looking way out in the North Sea for the next lot.

Which bit are you looking at Mark? Are you talking about the big fella currently to the north of us or can you see something building off the coast?

  6. Not sure about Newton Aycliffe but i would imagine things would be more than easily passable I'm afraid. The roads have a covering from that last shower and added to the slush on them freezing up they're a tad nasty at the moment. That said, the gritters seem to be out clearing at the moment so can't imagine anything too bad tomorrow since further showers seem unlikely.

Tbh I'll not be going in anyway as I can't even get the car out of my street. It's just that it would be more convincing to the boss if it was bad down there as well. Cheers though!

  7. Just drove home from work and the place is an ice rink at the moment, tomorrow morning ain't gonna be pretty! Aside from the shower Paul Tall mentioned earlier, we haven't had anything else. By the looks of things, that's our lot for tonight anyway :drinks:.

Is there much snow down at Darlo Craig? I work in Newton Aycliffe and am hoping I'm having a snow day tomorrow.

  8. well at least you answered lol.happy days snow galore here.

Aye it's a whiteout here. Telf's just texted to say the main road at No.1 roundabout is completely covered ad no cars running. Happy days.

Another nice chunk just making its way through Newcastle now as well :unknw:

The 14" depth I measured on top of the bin before is now up around 15". Not bad going for just over an hour.
