Biblical rain here in the North East for the past hour. As per usual the drains arent up to the job and the roads are flooded. Havent seen much lightning but heard plenty of thunder.

We've still got the remnants of a big snow pile in the car park at work from the snow we had in January. It's probably still about 15ft wide and 7ft high. It doesn't even look like snow now though as it's completely black and looks more like a big rock.
I've also noticed the odd patch of 'black snow' still lying around Consett as well. If we get this snow as expected this week then we'll officially have had snow on the ground since sometime in December. I'll have to confirm the date.
-
Well I really enjoyed the snow until I got basically got accused this morning off my boss of pulling a fast one by not making it in Thursday and Friday. I'd already said I was going to work the 2 days back. Also got the car stuck again this morning after a bloke at the end of the street got his car bottomed out on the big channel of snow in the middle of the road. Then this afternoon I got a phone call from our lass to say the thawing ice has pulled the facia and guttering off the house so I'm having to arrange for that to be fixed.
I suppose that'll teach me for wanting it to snow so much

There's a few flakes of something coming down here. I'm right on the border of the red, blue and green on the radar so I think I'm getting a mixture of everything.
-
Some major thawing taking place in Consett. A lot of the icicles I've been keeping an eye on have disappeared as well. Gonna miss it when it's gone.

Made use of the snow drifts in the garden today to help me defrost the freezer. Been wanting to do it for ages but could never get the freezer emptied. Just bagged everything up today and buried it in one of the drifts. 3 hours later I dug the bag out and everything was still nicely frozen solid.
-
Well wasn't expecting muh today. Had a walk to the gym at 12 (still can't get the car dug out) and it was blue skies. Came out at 1330 and it was pelting down. Still going now but intensity varies from time to time.

1mm fell in Moorside
Definite inch at least here. The official measuring gauge on top of the wheely bin is now at 15.2"

the £3.49 radar is showing some nice precipitation heading eastwards could give another top up
Gota be the next spacecraft name that like:
Sputnik>Discovery>£3.49 radar
I work for Lidl as well so I could maybe get my boss to sponsor it with a nice badge on the side
edit: Just popped me head outside. There's another 1 and a bit " fell tonight. Not bad going when I thought we were getting nowt today.
-
WHAT DO YOU WANT FOR £3.49 freckin NASA.
get yaself up here and dig the street out
That £3.49 paid for the nut that held the bolt that held the frame to the chassis of the satellite that took the photo - then got trapped up its own 'I have a problem' and started predicting things wrongly- so aye.
-
thats why it's only a predictave tool.pays not to use it lol.
Its well out. You can follow the path yourself by eye and then as soon as it goes onto future radar it drops everything about 50miles south.
-
Go to bed mate, that's slipping south of us.
Ya reckon?
It looks like the bottom end is swinging in to us but then the futureradar drops it south? I don't trust that futureradar though - it's been out all day.
-
That line a few hundred miles out is growing stronger by the minute. Dunno if I can wait up for it hitting us though.
-
Won't be long, just cracked the voddie open
No message come through yet, shout it up the street.
His mobile's on all the phone boxes within 5 miles if you don't hear owt mate!
-
hagler did you get my number, gis a ring mate.
Collapsed?
-
That bank developing to the east is definitely looking stronger.
-
If they are for the Vectra they will probably be 195/65/15's I have a few part worn snow tyres in that size, they are not brilliant but will be a lot better than what is on.
That's the fellas Keith.

I have to come clean and admit that I didn't predict this for your area- this slow moving area of organised snowfall is very unexpected!
I'll be getting my parents to take photos from Cleadon as I'm sure that by tomorrow they will have far more than the 12cm that they had while I was there.
Still, while Norwich only has 10cm and counting (it says a lot about this winter when I can say I "only" have 10cm!), it's a lot easier to make the most of it down here, with students regularly popping outside to throw snowballs, sledge down the hillsides, build snowmen, and a few have even tried to ski down the slopes.
This is a freak event. Students venturing outside

telephone box nas mate, they for the vectra.
Swear filter?
-
Are you running short? is it regarding what household products contain alcohol
-
Liked that last radar update. We might get this until the last of the NE tip.
-
Yes it will warm up, but that just in comparison to what we have now, it will still be cold with snow restricted to high ground. What happens after that nobody can be sure, but its likely we will retain blocking.
Snow now heavy here, probably 2cm now... Still -2.2c. i think i am going to have to get a new snow shovel as the plastic edge has worn down loads on the tarmac. Where can you get aluminium ones from?
Lidl sell them. They bought 10,000 in last year but couldn't shift them. They're flying out this year.
