  1. Looks like it may be on its way to Braintree if it doesn't lose its intensity
  2. Do you think this is shaping up for a good snow event for the whole of the south now as opposed to what had been forecast yesterday and this morning?
  3. Is it me or is the band moving quicker than anticipated? Judging by the last BBC forecast the snow was set to be clearing my region at around 6am but looking at the radar and the speed the band is moving it would clear us by about 4am if not earlier? About 4-5cm here average but drifting in places...surprised how powdery the snow has been as where some areas have been blown around it has left parts of my patio completly clear and bone dry underneath! Is this band set to slow at some point and it doesnt seem to be the case at present? (Maybe the guys on here with a lot more knowlege could answer that one?) Still it is nice to see the white stuff even though I have to drive to central london at 6.30am tomorrow morning. Note: current temp -2 (and has been since around 9pm this evening)
  4. Yep, Lets hope we get a good pasting, I am off to Holborn tomorrow so as long as I can get up the hill to the main routes all should be good!!!
  5. I think we are overdue some 'propper' winter weather this year, all good things.........
  6. Yep, same here, flickering started...wheres my torch?
  7. I dont agree with the METO bashing either as if it was easy or on they were on the money everytime we wouldn't all be chucking our two-penneths in about it, but this is a site for enthusiasts as well as the experts (which is why its so good!) and I suppose everyone is entitlied to thier opinion....but I always keep this old saying in mind " It is better to remain silent and to be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt" - Abraham Lincoln Shame I dont heed it sometimes!
  8. I have just been outside to tidy the few bags on the road that havent blown down to mine already for the morning collection, safely stacked behind a sheltered fence...hopefully!
  9. John, I am more of a 'watcher of other posts' since I joined up can I ask if these winds pretty much on the mark as to what was anticipated? Feels that way to me here in Braintree as well
  10. Starting to get very gusty in essex, we are at the bottom of a cul-de-sac and now have a very large pile of bin bags blown down from the other houses on the road as its the reycling collection tomorrow, looks like they will only need to stop at ours! I lost a large chunk of my shed roof on Tuesday...if this keeps up I may well be fishing it out of the field next to us come the morning again
  11. Aparently the tumbleweeds are rolling through the manchester area quite readilyas well
  12. All quite on the Essex front atm...by all accounts the winds and rain are not progged to hit this area until 4-6am...if i have read/interpretted ealier posts....just in time for the station run!! Unless anyone out there who is much more clued up than me (which wouldn't be hard) can tell me any differently? Just been outside for a ciggie...so mild for a January night! Is the low still deepening??
  13. Having just mopped up the miniflood indoors from the last downpour (must remember to clean those gutters out!!), nice deep rumbles being heard again in braintree
  14. Its gone really dark in braintree, constant rumblings...could be an intersting few minutes coming up
  15. Sorry, I take it this isn't the most reliable then? Any suggestions for a better overview for me to look at? (As I'm too cheap to get NWs!)
  16. OMG!!!! (Don't know if I'm allowed to post this screen shot, if not can mods please remove, dont want to get in bover!)
