Its the blind optimist in me that hopes something might develop...you think I would have learnt my lesson a long long time ago!!!

The 87 Storm was the worst (best) for me. I used to do a paperound then as I was only 13 and every morning without fail I would tell my dad that the weather was horrible and he would just ignore me and say "get down the papershop!" It was a good half hour's walk and I still remeber battling against the wind just to walk with trees/walls coming down all around ...it was so exciting! Another highlight of the day was 10 mins after arriving at the papershop my dad turning up in the car red-faced and saying "I believe you this morning...sorry!" Needless to say the papers didn't get delivered! Does anyone think we will get anything like that again in our lifetime or was it a one-off?

Yes it does, I panic bought a fridge pack of Fosters...and think I might have to panic buy another one tomorrow!!!

Can I just take a moment to calm things down a notch CG The meaning of Forecast [noun] a prediction about how something (as the weather) will develop. No matter if your an amateur or professional you can only forcast what you think may happen based on all available data. Given that the guys on this site will have as much data available to them (within a bit) than the professionals they have every right to give us the benefit of their considerable experience and let us know their thoughts on how they see things panning out. The "professionals" are also giving thier opinions....we will see tomorrow who's interpretation was nearest the mark....surley thats half the fun sometimes!

It's looking like the Braintree snow shield will deflect it just to the south of Braintree and it'll head down towards Brentwood/Loughton area...unless it swings a smidge east...then game on!! The next radar on rain today should give a better idea A smidge West even!!! I don't seem to know my erse from my albow!

It might be me clutching at straws...it seemed to show a band running across to Colchester and not moving south that fast....I may be completely wrong, but as the eternal optomist.....heres hoping!!

Th latest Beeb forecast showed essex to be in the 40cm band on its latest forecast picking up a lot of snow coming down from the North tomorrow am/early PM Although patience is a virtue I don't have!!!

Obviously you would hope they do, but why do they seem to be so off the mark when widely higher totals have been predicted, (I know its nowcasting at the mo)? Are you in agreement that London will only see 2-5cms?

Just had a lady from the MET office on Smooth FM news at 5 (not my choice at work!) saying that London can expect 2-5cm tonight Think I will stick with the people in the know for the best advice on totals in the SE....right here!!

May look a bit of an overstatement now given the recent downgrades on amounts...I suppose at time of print they were going with what they had.
