  1. Afternoon all. Went for a reasonable walk this morning. Very pleasant weather for it today here. I see there might be a chance of snow next week. Happily for me, I'll be away from here, if it happens. I'm done with cold weather now personally - it just makes my heating bills more expensive and I'm not interested in snow that falls and melts quickly. Good luck for those that want it though.
  2. I've now got a Justin Hayward song playing in my head, thanks to your post!
  3. Maybe a time to visit the Lake District then, from those charts. I could tie it in with seeing Colchester Utd getting relegated after playing Carlisle.
  4. Can just about see the Sun here; a watery one surrounded by much cloud. I'm not convinced the day is going to get any better tbh.
  5. Yes, I like these charts for Tuesday. A good day to get out methinks. It's a pity I'll be stuck at work.
  6. Interesting. Looking at the flow indices link, the most 'easterly' Februaries of the last century were also the two coldest (1947 and 1986)
  7. After the decent sunrise earlier, it's back to low cloud again here, but the type that the Sun should be able to burn through later this morning, given that it has more power now. It sounds like we might be back to grotty cloudy days again for the weekend though.
  8. Morning all. We have a spectacular sunrise going on here. Pity I don't have my camera with me. Have a good day all. Getting near to the weekend again...
  9. Also have a look at this chart for 5th March 1947 and the note about it in the link below. The original comment, which started all this, was very broad brush imho! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter_of_1946%E2%80%931947_in_the_United_Kingdom
  10. Sounds good! The more the merrier. I guess we'll leave it up to our leaders here (the mods) Hopefully they can organise something amongst themselves. I usually have ideas too.
  11. I'm wondering whether we could also do an earlier meet up too; maybe May time? Probably not a barbecue, as cold weather more likely then, but it might be a good way to start the summer? Maybe stay in a town with lots of attractions, with nice countryside around it, so there are things to do for all.
  12. Exactly. People are starting to track large asteroids nicely now, although we are vulnerable to blindside hits. We are likely to have many years notice of possible impacts. No such luxury with comets.
  13. Many, many times bigger than your figure. Food for thought though. Could you imagine the situation if our rather larger target was in the firing line now?
  14. I can report the smallest patch of blue sky here! No Sun yet, but it's getting better.
  15. To be mildly optimistic, the clouds are not as oppressive here as they were yesterday. A glimpse of the Sun this afternoon wouldn't surprise me too much.
  16. Maybe the next Regional get together then... ? Having said that, as soon as you mention the word "barbecue" the weather will play tricks.
  17. It's actually been pretty dry in my neck of the woods since December now... I just hope we don't have another dry early Spring, followed by a cool and/or wet summer, like the last couple in particular. I think a lot of us need a boost from a decent summer.
  18. You know when people have lost enthusiasm for the current weather type, when 5 posts gets you on the 'top 20' posters of the day list. Quite rare that. I see Coast must quite like this weather type though... Enough random posting for now, as I don't want to appear on the list myself.
  19. It looks like the cyclone is crossing the coast as a borderline category 3 now. It is in a very sparsely populated area though... http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDW60281.shtml
