Morning all. Another cloudy, drizzly, chilly morning here. Give me strength! With regards to the tropical cyclone, wouldn't the aussies just head inland and throw another shrimp on the barbie, cos they couldn't give a XXXX for such things? In all seriousness, it looks like the storm is currently stationary, off the coast, with 110mph winds, down from the category four winds of a few hours ago, so it might be that rain and flooding is going to be the main issue there?

Morning all. Dull and dank here too. Starting to get sick of this weather; it's my least favourite type. Still, the strengthening Sun will show its hand soon.

Have been processing the payroll, so have not been about. Done now though. I wish this sunless weather was too...

I think there's also a possibility of a truly spectacular comet later this year too - comet ISON - but its interaction with the Sun might prove critical to the sort of light show it provides.

Morning all. Slate grey and cold here too, but not as bad as the weekend, although the weekend itself was enjoyable.

I've got to say that I really don't like this weather. I like snow, as much as most here, but this cold, cloudy, raw weather does zero for me. I'm just longing to see sunshine now as much as anything.

What I find quite amusing too, was a member from this area making a very sarcastic post on the model thread last weekend (something about people from the north of England choking on their roast dinners - or similar) having seen the predicted charts for this weekend. Okay, it's not over yet, but I did think he who laughs last... The poster also had the nerve to question why his post was deleted, even though the essence of his posting had nothing to do with the models...

Hi Dave, sorry for the late response, but had some urgent work stuff. Yes, in HP at the moment. We still have very light flurries, but amounting to zilch on the floor.

Still flurries here. They are quite therapeutic though. I expect to wake up to a dusting of snow on my car tomorrow, but maybe not much more. Time will tell of course.

I'm wondering that too. I've just been in a 'green' bit of the NW radar and still have only flurries.

I don't think Colchester would be favoured. Too far north I think. I guess watching the radar is as good as it gets at the moment though.

Yes, I had a couple of beef burgers from the freezer yesterday evening. I did wonder though...

Here are the snow accumulation "thoughts" of NMM (06z run), until 6 a.m. on Sunday. Maybe head to the Cherbourg Peninsular?

Some nice photos there. What camera gear do you have and where was the walk? I guess you must have been in a hide (or well hidden) to take some of those, especially the great tit and nuthatch.

That's a pretty imby post to be honest. Here is a radar image at 9:25. As can be seen, it's just a lucky few who are currently getting anything more than inconsequential snow. I also don't remember one member here saying it would be dry this weekend either - all I remember is people talking down expectations?

Flurries here, leading to blowing snow trails in the road, but nothing more. Interestingly there is some ice in the puddles at work, even though the temperature is above zero and there's a reasonable breeze blowing (to stir up the air near the ground) Unless the temperature has risen recently, then that's slightly surprising. Could it be evaporative cooling, due to the low dew points causing this?

You've quite a warm day for February going on there then!

He posted a time lapse video of settling snow (presumably in his garden) back in January. I spotted it was him then.

Total expected snowfall from hi res NMM model until Midday Saturday. Maybe NW Kent the sweet spot then? But overall not too exciting imho, if this was to be borne out.- 774 replies

From the Hi Res NMM model, showing snowfall accumulation until 6 on Saturday morning. I'll post the updated (12z) one later today, which will show the charts until midday Saturday.- 774 replies

A few grains of snow here earlier, with the temperature close to freezing. I thought I saw a dusting of snow on the roads, at one point, on the drive in to work, but suspect it was actually salt! Flat stratocumulus at the moment too.- 774 replies

I think you're misquoting him somewhat, or certainly embellishing his statement, if nothing else.- 774 replies

Agreed! I'm due to be going on a fairly long drive on Saturday and I'm not seeing anything to concern me too much at the moment.- 774 replies
