  1. So thats summer 2014 over then. Not particularly memorable i have to say.
  2. just had few rumbles of thunder in central London. raining but not torrential. had quite a lot of thunder this summer but nothing i would call majorly loud or continuous.
  3. my poor lettuce seedlings took a battering with that heavy rain last night. hope they survive.
  4. I would have thought you were definately not in the south east, regardless of what the regional forecast tells you otherwise. i can sympathise though as i have exactly the same problem. Northamptonshire is bordered by the midlands, east anglia and the south east so could come under any of those locals.
  5. while I'm not complaining about this summer, it's been strange that although we have had quite consistent temperatures in the mid twenties we haven't had any really high temperatures of 30c or more which we do usually get for one or two days each summer. I suppose we still have August and September to go yet though. Would be nice to hit the 32c spot once or twice before the summer is out.
  6. torrential downpour with thunder and lightning at the moment.
  7. thunderstorm in central London. Loud thunder with lightning. just had a brief heavy downpour with still rumblings of thunder but trying to brighten up again now.
  8. its wierd but the thermometer is my office is reading higher than in previous days but it feels much more pleasant for some reason even though the humidity is about the same as it has been on previous days. Very strange. Maybe im just acclimatising. Havent been finding sleeping too disruptive either to be honest. It's been warm but hardly tropical at night lets be honest.
  9. What is it with this fog in Northampton which refuses to budge until midday? We're not even near the east coast for heaven's sake. Shift yourself fog.
  10. what is it with this fog in Northampton which refuses to budge until midday? We're not even near the east coast for heaven's sake. Shift yourself gloomy fog.
  11. what is it with this stubborn fog in Northampton that refuses to budge until mid day. we're not even near the east coast for heaven's sake.
  12. To be honest in my part of the country (Northampton) this summer hasn't been particularly exceptional. Although it has been very warm I wouldn't say it has been hot and definately not seen 90f yet. Even the nicest days havent produced wall to wall sunshine. A lot of the days have been more cloud than sun really, so although definately not a washout summer by any means, it also hasn't been a sunshine record breaker either. Call it a middleground summer.
  13. Northampton must be under a permenant cloud. Even when surrounding areas have brilliant clear skies Northampton seems to be the only place with cloud cover. Today is a perfect example. Then come the evening it clears to wonderful blue skies....but a bit too late in the day. Sort it out Northampton.
  14. Just typical. Having a week off from work next week and the weather decides to take a turn to cooler and more showery weather
  15. don't be silly it makes me laugh when people complain about their hot cars. At least they can wind the windows down and they are not squeezed next to some sweaty stranger's armpits. They wouldn't last 5 minutes on the tube.
  16. must be reaching 28c or more in central London today.
  17. Another very sticky afternoon in central London. Was okay last week but struggling a bit more this week. Not sure why because the humidity isn't any higher than it was last week. Thought i might have acclimatised by now.
  18. I agree and was just thinking the same. Even though it is slightly cooler than it was last week it seems more uncomfortable and humid even though i don't think the humidity is necessarily any higher than it was last week? Very strange.
  19. it must be the hottest day so far this year in central London. I have been okay so far this week but today i am feeling it. I think the mix of high temperatures and relatively high humidity is making all the difference. I am not complaining though....at least not yet i can beat that i think. i went out in the torrential downpour in just my boxers to retrieve my fragile peppers plants
  20. is it still sunny in northampton then? hoping it stays sunny and hot for the rest of today.
  21. Yes i understand that, but looking at their forecast today there was not even the slightest mention of rain, thunderstorms or anything apart from sunshine until later on tonight. If they are so unsure because of the unstability of the atmosphere then err on the side of caution and don't put 'sun' symbols as the forecast for the entire day thats all i am saying.
