  1. TP ,I looked at the 1830 HR radar which indicated quite organised heavy rain over the NW and Wales, still quite alot of rain/showers in places now in West and North
  2. There's some heavy rain affecting parts of NW England and a line of very heavy rain from N-S through Central Wales. Also heavy downpours over other western and northern areas. This system moving east and south through this evening and overnight into EA and SE tonight. Missed updating previous days, apologies to those keeping up with this.
  3. Next week interesting wintry downpours of sleet, snow(and hail )even in the south, These could produce snow in the north I'd expect sleet in the south and low level snow in north, are post some detail later on convective side of the wintry spell
  4. Mapantz, do you mean locally your area or generally ? The rain was particulary intense in places especially Friday (inclu my area) there was roadside flooding, radar was showing a large area of heavy/v heavy precipitation over parts of S and SE in particular. So yellow warning certainly needed (as there was on Friday) Saturday's area of heavy rain added to flooding and road spray over parts of S/SE and there was yellow warning. I'm not one who questions warnings placed by experts but every one is entitled to there opinion on the subject. Back on topic! Quite wet out there again across parts of S/SE at the moment, this rain moving away later, should be a dry, sunny day Sunday. I hope to be updating next week with more useful info, on mobile at moment.
  5. @TP, SLEET in mid Autumn now that's pushing it a bit!... Nice to read some had hail. more exciting then sleet, well unless it's turning to snow! saying that a covering of hail can be quite incredible!
  6. Thanks for posting those charts earlier Coast. Looking likely more heavy rainfall S/SE UK on Saturday. Had heavy downpours today over Stanwell and quite big roadside flooding, the ground is very wet on the grass under foot, that's my test of saturation level! It works though and gives me a good idea of surface drainage and run-off possibilitys and so what added risk of flooding due to lack of soak up of rainwater..
  7. Friday afternoon into and through the evening needs watching closely as an active feature develops over S-UK, this is likely to produce alot of heavy rain this affecting the SW by early afternoon I expect, not sure yet how far east of west but I suspect east of SW England the area most at risk, through afternoon Central South being affected and then into SE and EA by evening time. Could get 20mm or more of rain, NAE indicating particulary heavy rain especially into SE / EA. (could some one post ppn charts for this event thanks! on mobile can't upload)
  8. Heavy showers affecting W-Scotland, interesting feature into N Ireland with heavy intense line of rain(now). Heavy possibly thunders showers into SW England and Wales-especially west Wales by morning with 10mm or more indicated. not much ppn showing for SE on the models I looked at up to morning, what does NMM show for South? I'm on a small phone let me know if I got it correct! Can zoom in to high res images but hard work on phone. Looking at Friday afternoon an interesting feature of rain could be thundery although most instability is over the Channel up to night time (negative LI yellow) there could be rumbles of thunder possibly actual tstorms over Channel maybe inland too within the this feature this developing to the SW moving in Central South into late afternoon and into SE/EA by evening that could be thundery.
  9. There is a line of rain some heavy downpours in it along a weather front lying from SW England to EA(south) this rain heading into the SE overnight. A look ahead suggests many spells of wet weather some heavy rain at times but clearer and drier gaps inbetween, some showers too. The flood risk would increase with all this rain so keep check on forecasts and river agency forecasts.
  10. Please use this thread to discuss the precipitation associated with the weather systems. Looking as though quite a few spells of very wet weather with heavy rain and heavy showers affecting many areas over the next week (won't go to far ahead!) these systems affecting England and Wales in particular over the next several days. The first rolling in across the south by morning tomorrow and turning milder too, gales are possible. Likely there be an increasing flood risk with local surface water and river flooding.
  11. It's because readers do not want to scroll through loads of un-related posts to the topic and it becomes frustrating for users on small mobiles. not only that it becomes annoying for moderators to remove lots of posts, they want to read as much as we do. It's because readers do not want to scroll through loads of un-related posts to the topic and it becomes frustrating for users especially on small mobiles. not only that it becomes annoying for moderators to remove lots of posts, they want to read as much as we do. and another thing OT posts lead to more and so on.....
  12. I know I was only joking. your post might of been moved...
  13. I'm still onto the prospects of a cold winter after a stormy November, yes their be frost yes we would have mountain snow but it is November! but still interesting see where these elements bite first. You know what this winter is a difficult one to forecast for me, the Jet stream is in power the Atlantic active and mild, and this theme keeping going mostly I expect, but something noticable the track of lows, it's that sudden southerly movement that's been happening the last few years... (sorry mods for my other OT posts. are take this bit of in a while)
  14. The system developing into SW now and this has a large area of heavy rain in it, winds develop to potentially severe gale coastal with inland gales possible. I'm off hope to be back late eve
  15. Exactly what many experience, a very small intense cell within a normal looking shower can be seen as a tiny pixel! need to zoom in to see it. Wondering how much lightning could break out over the Channel later and pnssibly along the shore, that's the high risk area but could get some tstms inland too.
  16. This was at 1500 hrs: Heathrow 11.3 C Wind D - WSW 19 MPH GUSTING 34 MPH, Visibility 40 km, 1001 hpa falling. SUNNY. Thick cloud has now covered the sky some dark cloud too, signs of incoming low now giving heavy rain over SW UK. Earlier at 1500 hrs Plymouth temp was 9.5 C.
  17. Be a clearer idea this evening, very much interesting situation and with L n T on the menu then even more so!
  18. Yes I see GFS has negative LI as yellow along far south and even in to SE, and I am expecting some thunderstorms through the Channel and along S coast late eve into night. I think some intense convection as thundery rain develops later across S-UK. And gale to severe gale force winds depends on track of low how far north from south coast these winds evolve.
  19. That was a rough windy night, noisy on roof, still very gusty now. We have the next storm developing this is for this evening and overnight (title extension perhaps!) the strongest of the storm low affecting South UK coastal zones gusts 70 mph (possibly a bit more) inland gusts up to 50 or even 60 mph, I would expect exposed hills to the south being hit hard with wind gusts near the southcoast proberly inland too, just have to keep watch of this track.. And alot of thundery rain with this system.
  20. While the Kent prisn riots are brought under control by Operation TORNADO... It's a bit stormy out there
  21. Slugs might be floating later... Looks as though could get very windy at times this wkend and heavy rain, maybe thundery elements. Not expecting anything wind wise as severe as Monday's big storm, must say alot of tree and fence damage I have seen around Staines-Upon-Thames and Stanwell and also Cobham from the storm. Tracks and intensity of the coming Alantic lows can change quickly please keep check on this.
  22. Just to confirm regarding posts on lack of warnings There are Netweather warnings for the gales/heavy rain and MetO not sure what the problem is? Also Daily Express had on front page other day about this wkend...
