  1. My daughter woke me at 4:30 this morning, the rain was lashing the windows. Has barely stopped all day, not particularly heavy as only on 31mm since midnight. Wind has been relentless though, some branches off trees, temp hasn't been above 12*. Proper autumn storm in midsummer.
  2. Just had some really heavy rain and rumbles of thunder from the cell that passed over the lake district. Has been quite a thundery month. Tomorrow looking like a vile autumnal day, a day for inside jobs I think.
  3. Can hear that beast rumbling away from here, sounds like artillery fire! Feeling really hot now after the refreshing rain this morning.
  4. Light shower passing through, first rain for some time. Its been an exceptionally dry spring, on the back of that exceptionally wet February! The spring we take water from has now dried up, something it didn't do in 2018. Hoping for decent rain soon, then it can go back to dry and sunny, I've enjoyed the novelty!
  5. Chalk and cheese this weekend, hit 23* yesterday, now 7* and a stiff northerly knocking that down further. At least the rain over the lake district is fizzling out before it gets here.
  6. Couple of inches here. Expecting the thaw to kick in soon
  7. Pretty wild here, woke up to drip drip coming though the bedroom ceiling! No slates off just rain being forced in. We're now at an impressive 80mm since yesterday evening!
  8. Some really wild squally showers pushing though just now after a wet windy day. Autumn is well and truly here now.
  9. Yep barely stopped all day, wind still howling. 94mm now for the past 48hrs. Not helping all the bridge repairs that are still going on around here after Desmond
  10. Autumn has arrived in Cumbria, gusty wind and horizontal rain lashing the windows. 21mm of rain since midnight on top of the 50mm from yesterday. Turning into a very wet month. Standard august!
  11. That was impressive! Constant thunder and lightning, all elevated though. Torential rain with hail and crazy downdrafts. Dropped 20mm in no time, approaching 50mm since midnight now.
  12. Can hear it approaching, constant rumbling. Should be a good one if it maintains
  13. Our first autumnal storm on Fri, looking very wet for these parts. Roll on September when summer usually returns!
  14. Keeping an eye on the storm south of Lancaster, hoping it maintains and doesn't drift too far east. Boom! Big rumble that rolled across the fells for a good 10 seconds
  15. Just had some short intense rainfall, now a couple of rumbles of thunder
  16. Had a few rumbles and very intense rainfall around 6 o'clock. Didn't last long though. First thunder of the year.
  17. Woke by thunder around 6 o'clock. Also some very intense rainfall but all passed though quickly
  18. Maxed out at 10*C, rain most of the day. Woodburner belting out like we're approaching winter solstice not summer. Got to love our perpetual autumn climate.
  19. Our preferences are exactly the same! May/June is my favourite time of the year, all that fresh green growth, birds singing and lambs skipping in the fields. It's also the time when most plants and trees flower and there's that knowledge of potentially many more months of warm weather. Last May was possibly the best May I can remember. August on the other hand is the worst month, sometimes get nice days but it's usually either warm, damp and muggy, the air filled with midges or it's cool and wet with the first taste of autumn.
  20. Come back summery weather! Barely been above 10*C today, strong winds and heavy rain this afternoon. Looks even colder tomorrow. Oh well we did need some rain.
  21. Heavy snow this morning with a couple cm cover. Typical after such a poor winter, it's come a month too late in my book, I'm after warm sunny conditions now.
  22. Sat in hill fog today, doesn't look like it's going to budge. Itching for warm sunny weather now.
  23. Can hear the rumblings of an approaching storm. ...
  24. A balmy 17.3*C here. Got a sweat on working outside in a t-shirt, more like April than Feb! Have a feeling we'll pay for this come March.
  25. Woke at 2:30 to the sound of rain lashing the window and the wind howling, really wild night. We've lost a slate off the roof and a bush in the garden has fallen over, seems we've escaped the worst of it.
