So as far as I can tell, according to the MAD thread over the last 24 hours . . .
It's going to get very cold, from the East, but maybe not as it heads to France, but it won't so it's ok, (but might not be)
Then it's going to cover the south east in "s of snow, but if you live up north then the Easterly looks dry for those down south and -8 uppers aren't good enough for snow, even with stupidly low DP's and a warm ocean track to aid convection, just won't happen.
The 2nd SSW is having an IMMEDIATE effect on the next few days actual weather, even though the initial (record breaking) SSW took a couple of weeks to deliver (even though it hasn't yet, but it will, or maybe not but it could etc)
Each model run is an upgrade/downgrade depending on your location and toys are ejected with immense force from prams if ANYONE dare say anything you don't like or point out that your 3' of snow is now 25 mins of drizzle with temps of +7 and hazy sunshine................... until the next run!
But I think we will get this

Regards the Day 10 comment above, your simply wrong - latest charts from this morning start at around Day 6/7. Certainly seems to be edging ever closer now, with Day 6/7/8 all trending cold to very cold we could be looking at it actually coming off. Still a few days until we can tell the families and friends under NW superstition though.
I don't think it's superstition, I believe it's a law

It was quite heavy, just stopped, Left the pavements white, although, accumulation wise, this winter so far has been poor, I honestly can't remember the last time I have seen so many days with falling snow, a massive improvement over recent years, here's hoping it a precursor to an eventful tail end of winter ☺

CK can i ask what you want. We are on the cusp of snow. Probably the first region wide snow for at least 5 years. The mild sector thursday has gone. By all accounts the strat is getting stronger and stronger warming. If you think itd going to be a 3 day cold shot think again its modelled for 14 days..... the dew points drop like a stone this afternoon
Hi all, not posted on these boards for a while, Good to see familiar faces and new ones too, I'm hoping for some proper snow cover just so my little man who is 5 in a couple of weeks, gets to see his first decent snow cover, he gets super excited when there is just a bit lying around, would love for him to actually see something noteworthy ☺

Really?! We're about 10 mins drive east of Crowborough, 145m asl, and still only have rain. Barely sleet. Either it's about to turn for us, or we've ended up with an unlucky pocket of warmer air off the channel earlier.
Snowing North of us, South of us (Ditchling) and just barely West of us...yeah it's really coming down heavy, everything turning white very quickly, should be with you very soon I guess

Don't post here often as I have no idea how to read the charts, but I enjoy it all the same!
I would suggest people don't get hung up too much on the output at the moment, as even the met office peeps are saying it's all in no man's land, but hey, what do they know eh?
I know it's good to talk about what's being shown and all the if's and but's, but.......... when a hurricane show's up in January for the first time in almost 80 years, it will throw a rather large spanner in the works! especially when the exact track and ramifications are unknown.
For now, it's cold, and getting colder for a few day's, let's see what Alex does and what that means for our wonderful little island
Thanks everyone for the input, laughs and hair pulling that this thread provides
