  1. Heavy snow? Where? On the top of Plymouth's tallest building? I live in the Milllbay area and it's pure, heavy, (as per norm) cold rain...
  2. Alarm is set for 3am...why do i put myself through this...when i know here on the south coast (Plymouth) I'll be waking up to cold rain...??? I'll never learn.... Great input all...thank you, I'm taking it all in...love this forum, great characters, great posts, and forever learning from you all - thank you
  3. Hey all, just literally decided to join the regionals, in anticipation of potential snow on Sunday...been following the main winter discussion so far (yep you guessed it, all looks potentially nailed/stonking/promising in 10 days from now...).....but within 60 secs of reading (in excited anticipation) I am really disheartened by some of your jibes at one another.... Be it rain, sleet, snow...kitchen sinks'...we have (potentially) an interesting February on the cards...let's in the meantime be nice to oneanother... sit back, grab a beer, and hit the radar refresh key with your bottle opener... Our time will come...
  4. The can of worms have well and truly been opened...and the truth is coming out from far a field...
  5. Omg GC, i was the same!...but shamefully i was in my late teens (late 80's) and drawing 'Ian Mcaskill style weather maps' with the 'stick-on' heavy snow symbols...on my employer's toilet cubicle wall... ☺
  6. Hi GC, was just a tongue in cheek reply to an all-to-familiar South Devon "gutted, wish it was us" scenario...one day maybe... hey better odds for you... at least your rain will be cold Good luck further North & East all...
  7. ...and why not?!! We all deserve a 'boom moment' from time to time... and of course the models are far from a done deal yet, but boy we really do deserve a moment when we just need to shout it loud!!! Great viewing, great contributions, great 'hiding behind the sofa moments'.... i love this place!!
  8. Hi Karl, irrespective of the level of knowledge, your autism, etc - you REALLY DO add your voice and best of all, your amazing positivity on here! Without you I think i would have thrown the towel in years ago!! Keep up and please continue to voice your views and opinions, right or wrong they are respected...and i think i speak for the majority on NW. Happy New Year to you (and all on here)... Great people, great discussions, great varied opinions!!
  9. Got to say I'm slightly baffled. I live in Plymouth yet all the ppn heading up from the channel just seems to be stalling on the coast? No significant snowfall in the last couple of hours... hoping this will change soon! Glad to hear there are lots of areas around me who are getting a snowfest! ?
  10. Thanks Steve and everyone else - it's my job and sometimes it can be a thankless task, but reassuringly all local authorities will have there own kind of contingency plans given warnings of severe cold. On a separate note thank you to you and many other posters on here who help me chillax most evenings with your continued and excellant posts ?
  11. Hi TEITS, i work for local government and more to the point work with the homeless in our local authority area. We do have an emergency contingency plan known as SWEP (Severe weather emergency plan). We are bringing this in to effect from 7pm this sunday where it will then be reviewed on a daily basis. So in addition to paying the street-homeless a visit offering food and hot beverages (daily soup run) we will be offering them emergency accommodation via the hostel system and safesleep at the salvation army. ?
  12. You're not alone TI, I've just seen your chart, swigged back a large vodka and missed my mouth...? Eyes are stinging but still in euphoria ?
  13. How dare you try to derail the (upcoming) cold/snowfest anticipation...go back inside your nearly complete igloo...shame on you ??
  14. Hi Jane, thank you. Good to be on board after many years of reading all the threads here on NW.
  15. Hi AB, no, unfortunately not. I'm extremely surprised by the rise in temp here in the last hour or so. Good luck for your location and to everyone else too - I guess away from the coast and the SW corner (as per METO) then you'll be in the mix!
  16. Wow, impressive - well in the last hour the temp has risen from -3 to 0c, light rain has just arrived
  17. Morning all, newbie here (but have been a NW follower for years now!). Good luck to you all with regards to todays' snow event! I live in Plymouth, 4m ASL so 99.9% resigned to not seeing any of the white stuff here lol, but one can only hope!! Round 2 maybe this time next week? Enjoy your day! TP
