  1. I know it's all in the far reaches but both gfs and gfsp both show the majority of the polar, well it doesn't really look like a vortex at that stage completely displaced in half. The models must be picking up on a big change or just got the pattern wrong in the early stages then just continuing to a super cold outlook for us all to be disappointed .Hope not.
  2. As a basic trend I will be monitoring the trend for high pressures being centred over the pole enforcing the cold pool to our NE IF it enters a reasonable time frame. That didn't last long i already have.
  3. Having a look through the N Hemisphere charts in the medium term to the end run, its all one sided with lots of high pressure over Siberia ect.You can see some of them heights being drawn in to the pole enhancing the spilt from the high in the Atlantic. Not sure if it's just the normal pole movement or some stat warming?
  4. I know it's the the very late end of Fl on the gfs tonight but with a nice area of high pressure in the Atlantic heading up in to the Greenland, with the majority of the polor vortex away from Canada maybe more than just a northern toppler.Somthing to get an eye on IF it's still there in the future.
  5. Apart from entry 12, if we have a snow event during day light hours i do like entry 2 when you see them large fluffy flakes blowing randomly in the wind before the main event
  6. Really looking forward to this winter after last years mild disgusting wash out.Looking through the N Hemisphere, what potential we have so far.How long can the polar vortex be shredded like it is so far.If it does continue maybe a bone chilling Dec like2010 or could we expect some more of the same through out the winter, with all the back round signals in our favour. Fingers crossed for either.
  7. Is it not very often you're get charts like that from this evenings ecm at this early time of the winter, especially when you see high pressure being sucked in from Scandinavia and then in from the pacific into Greenland causing a spilt vortex. All eyes on the stratosphere.
  8. Not even a bit sleet,very disappointing I think we've been spoilt over the last 4 or 5 years.Hoping for a 201415 freeze.
  9. Here's hoping that we don't have to stress to much about tracking stream's of snow on the radar,to the north,to the south, kent clipper.Well, not to much,do not want to take all the fun away.Just a mass blob on the echo kent bound like 1feb 2009:-)
  10. Must admit eagerly waiting for my snow fix, its being a bit of await so far.Even to see snow falling would be nice to look at.At least January is starting to look more like winter in the models at the moment. Couldn't bare another December Atlantic onslaught. Yuk !
  11. Weather in the next week or so now looking more and more wintery generally in the charts at long last, especially tonights easterly tease.Looking forward to the first all nighter lamp watch:-)
  12. Eagerly waiting for a pattern change, looks like another 240hrs judging by this evenings outputs. The only positive out come is if we get a quick switch around is the North Sea is around 10 to 11C at the moment. So if we are lucky enough to get some -10 uppers quite a temp difference should get the old Thames streamer maybe up to the 2009 sort of severity.
  13. I think the most encouraging signs for cold further down line seems to be the main part of the polar vortex looks like setting up towards Siberia, might just have to wait a little while for the stubborn high to our sw to make its move on Greenland and make us all very happy.
  14. Tonight's gfs pub run gives a good northerly blast in later stages, from about the 4 dec.Hopefully it may tie in with some of the longer range models for a cold blast for the beginning of dec.Would much rather an easterly for us,more for the east coasters.
  15. Hi Tom, just had a look on the update list for the snow depth comp, please don't forget me.Did try to p.m but maybe inbox is full. thanks
  16. Late coming out of summer hibernation, all ready for the snow depth cup. Thanks
  17. Hoping for this current weather pattern further down the line, down in the south east it's rained most of the night and very windy heavy rain all afternoon blowing in from the east. Not sure what the rain totals are but a good dumping of snow would be sitting out there now 7 or 8 weeks down the line. Not to long to wait now!
  18. WHITE OUT!!!!!! All that model watching over the last 4months the best of the snow is here nearly at the start of Spring
  19. I know I sound like a broken record but its still throwing it side ways still.maybe +10 cm in the morning
  20. Still falling thick and fast,I wonder if 10 cm will be possible in the morning.Lets hope so.
