    Not even rain here! No precipitation at all. It’s flippin freezing out though and feels very raw in that wind! Dublin snow shield fully functional again!!!

    Mournes being in east Ulster, sorry for being pedantic, but west Ulster and Donegal got plenty of snow today. Small accumulations apparently. Met did say showers mostly in west...

    There were showers in Ulster today, wasn't there? And it was that cold I'd imagine there was wintery showers somewhere. Anyway, it's supposed to get down to -4 tonight. Think I'll keep the dog in!

    It’s fierce windy out there right now, waiting in the school to pick up the young lad and there’s branches down everywhere and the flag pole is bending and fierce wobbly!

    Met Eireann now calling a countrywide Orange alert for tomorrow's storm Brendan. Wouldn't be surprised if it's red on parts of the west coast by tomorrow.

    I recorded just shy of 17 degrees today on my weather station at 3.30 this afternoon. 16.85 to be precise. I'd imagine there will have been records broken today for January.

    It's an awful looking set of runs over the last few days. Even suggestive height rises are gone next run! The towel is in hand, the boxer is on his knees!

    FI on the midnight ECM brings hope! Height rises in the right places! I know it’s 240 away, but that a couple of runs now where ECM brings an easterly tease with a few adjustments that aren’t too inconceivable!

    Nothing new to report in the semi reliable and into FI on the midnight runs from GFS and UKMO With a powerful SPV residing to our north.

    I don't know. At 192 I've seen a lot worse charts! HP over Scandi and a nice tilt on the low pressure system looking like it want's to start going under the high. Granted, next frame is awful!!!

    Really unusual vortex organisation this year, so early in winter. One positive to climate change I was hoping for was colder winters... Think I'll throw a few more logs on the fire, and buy a few cows! Still, while the PV is this disorganised, we're in with a shout. Meanwhile, over here, my northern cousins are in with a shot of whiteness!

    I think the pub run is a great run rolling out now. The Arctic is in smithereens and pressure is rising all over the place up there!

    Not sure why there is so many despondent posts, I've seen worse charts at 180 (GFS 18z) There is a loosening of a grip on Greenland by the PV, and a rising in SLP. There is plenty of potential in this chart, a few minor corrections and we could be sitting pretty from a oldies perspective.Maybe even a link up between the Pacific HP and an Atlantic one.

    It's certainly blowing a gale out there now... Rain hammering down also. Sitting in with fire lit and glass of vino in hand.

    Better output tonight from the 18z GFS. The jet is digging more southerly and this is always a welcome sight for cold lovers!
