  1. A good thaw set in here about 11am. Only got above zero then. About 36 hours of sub zero! Loved it!
  2. Yep me too, leaving work this morning after 9 and the frost and fog were glorious! -2 according to the car thermometer! Lovely crisp whiteness everywhere.
  3. Aye, sods law and all that. Mine too, thought it was the batteries, but it's not. No wireless communication between base set and outside set. Time to ask Santa for a new one I think. Any (affordable) suggestions?
  4. Something very odd about the output in the 6-10 day range, can’t put my finger on it. Are there any forces in place in the strat?
  5. Yes. It has. December 2009. ECM, GFS, and later UKMO, all called the brilliant northern blocking without fail from the ultra FI charts, tick tock down to T-0. It was nailed on AND delivered! But that was nirvana. Hasn't been repeated since!
  6. Polar vortex looks like it will be settling down in Greenland for the next while. When it’s there, it’s quite difficult to get sustained wintry weather, as we all know!
  7. Fairly benign charts for the foreseeable future. Mostly western driven with ridges of HP holding over our islands, so some frost and fog interspersed with brisk Atlantic weather fronts. But the future is considerably brighter with the Pfizer announcement yesterday! Haven't posted here in a while, but not expecting any early winter surprise so far.
  8. Don't have as much spare time as I used to have (damned pandemic!) so don't really have the time to view either the NWP or the model output thread with any time required. Is there any joy looking forward??
  9. More yellow rain warnings for today too. What a sodding month August has turned out to be. Still, could be trying to post in the Louisiana thread!!!
  10. Maybe for the regional threads? We're probably only going to see 20/22 degrees max.
  11. Noticed that today, showing the MetO warnings for NI. Probably not before time!
  12. Hope you're all keeping well folks. Strange times. We seem to be edging out of the storm somewhat, but I urge you all to stay the course and stay apart as much as possible. As an island, we have done quite well with this. Unlike our 2 neighbours. As MS said, amazing spell of weather which made staying home easier, but alas, the Atlantic is having a say at the moment, maybe next week (and the farmers won't thank me for this) we'll see a return to warmer and drier weather.
  13. I'd nearly prefer a 2 week bout of heavy snow, hail, thunderstorms, hurricane force winds and ice, to keep everybody home!!!
  14. One of my favourite topics after the Christmas Day runs always show snowmageddon! Flight data! Thanks for posting.
  15. Bit of snow this weekend could make entertaining the kids in the garden easier!
  16. @mountain shadow Maybe some interest for us on the east side of the island next weekend?
  17. 3am here this morning, snow bucketed down! Didn’t stick in the slightest!
  18. Indeed, we need a few 20+ days to kill off this covid 19!
