  1. You act like Cornwall never gets any snow!!! Cornwall can be hit by snow showers in a northerly so I have no idea why you act so surprised that they could have a warning from the Met office for snow.
  2. We all know where that low will hit don't we (think March 2013) lol
  3. If it ain't the m4 it's the a370 instead lol, actually the a370 is just up the road from my back yard so I should be far enough away from the coast to see some snow falling.
  4. Dec 17th it was, will never forget that day, the streamer that hit here actually originated off the west coast of Wales.
  5. Yeah we got lucky with that streamer, for a while it was just north of here, was torture to watch it on the net weather radar but it eventually drifted slightly south and we had loads of snow from it! If it wasn't for that one shower streamer 2010 would have been a non event here.
  6. March 2006 gave lying snow here from a N/NW cold flow, Dec 2010 as well so to rule out any possibility at all of snow falling is being a little pessimistic imo.Edit : forgot to say both those snowfalls were from showers so that's why I'm not discounting any possibility of seeing snow falling.
  7. Don't know why some are a bit down in the dumps regarding this up & coming cold snap (spell?), it's the best chance so far this winter for those areas that have not seen any snow so far. Not to mention the charts, especially the fax charts have been showing features in the flow and imo all those saying how it'll be dry away from the usual areas may find they're way off the mark, time will tell of course.
  8. Very much so, a wintry scene I once saw in a photo of Newquay beach covered in snow was from a northerly setup, can't remember what year it was though.
  9. That would be our best chance yeah but showers could also hit the region if there's a westerly element to the northerly flow, that's what gave snow here in March '06 and the Dec '10 snowfall was showers that banded together to form a streamer all the way from the west coast of wales.
  10. So the models are painting a very interesting picture for later next week onwards, no doubt it's going to get cold, just how cold and what if any snow chances there will be is still to be decided, it's going to be fascinating to see how it plays out. I could have sworn some members in here were writing off the rest of winter just recently too!
  11. Which makes this winter way better than last year when I expect you had no frosts at all lol.
  12. Now that's more like it, a positive post, the mood from most in here tonight is so depressing! Plenty of time yet and the models are showing some interest, as bluearmy has been mentioning over in the mod thread. By the mood in here I was expecting to see poor model output with long fetch south westerlies progged all the way out into fi, that is not what's being shown!
  13. Can't believe I missed it snowing in Weston, was raining here when I looked that morning.
  14. Well I don't know about snow prospects for this part of the county but it's certainly interesting in that the models are pushing the pattern further west with each run, certainly the return of the Atlantic appears to be hitting the buffers where as a few days ago the models were showing sw winds sweeping right across the UK later this coming week. Yes the models could go back to showing that again but at the moment they are trending the other way and it'll be fascinating to watch it unfold, longer the cold spell goes on the better chance areas will have to see some of the white stuff.
  15. I remember hearing on a bbc forecast many years ago that snow can fall upto an air temp of 4c, depending on other factors etc. Light rain here at the moment.
  16. Interesting post by nick in the mod thread, let's hope the westward corrections that were shown in the output this morning continues with the 12z's
  17. Something else wrong there as I've never had any refresh issues with either of my tablets, nexus 7 & galaxy note 10.1,with multiple tabs open in chrome both tablets still have loads of ram left! 2gb is more than enough for multitasking.Edit : also down to which version of android the tablet is running, newer versions have much better ram management, probably why I have no issues as both tablets are running upto date os versions.
  18. Probably lol, I saw a few mentions in the mod thread this morning about it looking good for most of the UK, except the sw! Still there appears to have been a swing back West with the lp with the overnight runs and who's to say this westward push won't continue more, if it does things could be looking up.
  19. Precipitation not too far away now and with the slight frost we have outside , if it rains it's gonna turn icy out there.
  20. Your not wrong there lol, I feel my ignore list growing too as I really can't be dealing with people who's mood swings are as frequent as the swings in the models when there's a chance of cold in the uk.
  21. Well depending on just how far east those fronts get before they stall, your statement could be bang on the money, those fronts get too far east however and the mood in here would not be a good one lol.
  22. Looks like I messed some snow fall up Bristol airport way, precipitation died right down just as I got here! Parked cars up here with a little snow on them. Absolutely hammered it down back home with rain, little sleet in the really heavy bursts.
  23. Bottom part of that radar echo has hit here yeah but it's moving more East than south so looks to miss southern mendips etc
