  1. Loads of flashes out to my e/se, very far away though, can hear distant thunder too. Close but no cigar for this part of the west country.
  2. I'd gladly take one rumble of thunder, would be the first this summer! Fingers crossed but I won't be getting my hopes up to avoid disappointment.
  3. And so my long wait continues to even hear thunder this summer, let alone see any lightning flashes! Wouldn't surprise me if this is yet another summer where I fail to see or hear either knowing my luck
  4. But on the other hand by the time next week rolls in we'll also be one week closer to the start of next summer, which hopefully includes multiple plumes lol
  5. I hear the July record has been broken with a 36.7 at Heathrow, still time for that to climb yet as well. According to all the wunderground stations near me it's currently 30c here, plenty warm enough, Heathrow is welcome to that 36c!
  6. Just goes to show what you know I guess, or don't! 36.7 at Heathrow, all new July record and it's still only mid afternoon so that could climb even higher.
  7. This cloud is having no impact on the feel out there though, it's very warm and muggy.
  8. 24c on car readout here, sounds about right as it is very warm out this morning.
  9. Just boring old rain here at the moment, although it is warm rain which makes a change lol.
  10. Wonder if I'll get lucky today and hear my first rumble of thunder so far this summer!
  11. Wish my room temp was 23c, currently 30c in here, it's times like this I'm glad I have a fan!
  12. Don't agree at all with the party being all over by mid August, the end of August 2013 still had very pleasant warm days, which carried over into the first few days of September that year.
  13. Fans work perfectly fine for me, never been without one in the house since the heatwave of 2003, they especially help at night when trying to sleep.
  14. Hate the good damn weather sometimes, literally 5 minutes before the red arrows were due to start their display, low cloud/sea fog decided to roll in and they couldn't display.
  15. Damn annoying these blue skies won't last into the weekend for the airshow here, at least Sunday is looking better than tomorrow so the red arrows should get to perform a decent display on one day at least.
  16. GFS better be well off the mark, it's the airshow here next weekend and I'm praying the weather gods play nice.
  17. Been a non event here so far, thunder and lightning wise, not even had any heavy rain yet.
  18. Shame we can't have warm muggy nights like this for the whole summer, it's great being sat out in the garden this time of night and it's still very warm! Here's hoping for some thunder and lightning later too.
  19. Precisely why I'm thankful for the ignore function, so I don't need to waste time reading the 'unrelenting pessimism' you refer to lol.
  20. What a wild and windy night that was, got hardly any sleep with the noise the wind was making.
  21. My area is slap bang in the middle of the area Ian gave for the strongest gusts of wind, we shall see, if it's blowing a hoolie out there in the early hours it'll probably wake me up as I'm a light sleeper.
  22. Plenty of blue sky here this morning for viewing the near total eclipse of the sun.
  23. Sounds like weather heaven to me, especially the no wind & no rain bit, I'm not bothered about whether it's a cloudy high or if day & night time temps are similar, I would take that weather setup over wet and windy conditions any day of the week.
  24. Disagree with that, doesn't need to be proper deep cold at all, we certainly didn't have that in march '06 but still had lying snow here from a north westerly but I'm looking forward to spring now & here's hoping some of the charts showing high pressure just to s/se of the uk are on the ball.
  25. Yeah, display was organised by the owners of the grand pier.
