BBC weather still showing snow over a large part of the south on Sunday & for a fair few hours as well, including large parts of the west county. If it happens & any settles it could stick around & still be there when any Atlantic incursions happen later in the week. Ignore the above, recent bbc forecast has now completely changed and the snow is confined to east anglia lol.

To be honest though, this could be the best spell of snowy weather for my back yard since Dec '81, that was similar with a succession of low pressure systems passing to the south west. Or it could all go horribly wrong but going by the met office 10 day trend video posted last night even they don't have a scooby doo just how far south (or indeed North) these systems will be tracking. I have noticed though that the surface high that's forecast to form over scandi seems to be getting under estimated by the models in terms of how strong it might be. Come on weather gods, be nice for once & give me a Dec '81 repeat, is that too much to ask

Wouldn't be so quick to say that just yet, this up & coming spell is the sort of weather pattern that can deliver those classic SW blizzards of the past. For me personally I'd like to see any low pressure systems being more flattened, more trough disruption, we certainly don't want any low pressure systems to be too rounded as that certainly wouldn't be great for the far south & south west.

Latest met office update I read a few hours ago mentioned any low pressure coming in from the South West would make very little inroads into the UK due to high pressure to the north, to me that sounds very interesting for our neck of the woods. The east can keep their snow showers, this sort of setup can deliver large falls of snow for our part of the country.

With the poor outlook for the far south snow wise give me that warm weather, I'll take it! -
This weather pattern were in has officially become depressing! Did I pee off the weather gods or what joking about how I hoped sheikky missed out on the snow lol, that part of the Midlands got loads of snow at the weekend & now this weekend looks like a repeat! The damn jet stream just isn't south enough, the whole pattern needs to shift south west for any hope of us getting in on the fun & games.

The issue with the event over the weekend for here was the precipitation just wasn't heavy enough & didn't last for long, all the heavy stuff was just to the north & south. The band of snow, or at least the part of it that hit here thinned out markedly as it approached the Bristol channel, you could clearly see that was happening when checking the radar. Whether that was just bad luck or what I dunno but the side roads were turning white & there was some on the ground in the garden. Would have been a much better event for here if the snow was heavier & fell for longer, simple as that really.

What a wind up that main band of snow was this morning, was watching the radar as it approached and the part that was going to hit us lost intensity & the width of the precipitation shrunk, just to the north & south though the precipitation was much more intense & wider meaning snow fell for longer! Still was nice to see snow falling.

Nothing like that in weston, nice to see it falling but in terms of lying snow it's a bust! Can see why though looking back at the radar, all the heavy precipitation passed to the north & south of here & the band of precipitation was a lot thinner compared to even a few miles either side lol. Oh well, here's hoping Feb cab deliver us all some more snow events.
