The mod thread is turning into the midlands thread, they all want the snow, well hasn't that area had snow already out of this weather pattern we've been in for a while where all we've had down here is rain! Well tonight I'm being Mr scrooge & the greedy midlanders can bugger off lol, hope it just strikes the the south west & far south, if only so I can see how many !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sheikky or whatever his name is now can come out with when the snow misses him

Nothing 'wow' about those charts for here, every time I see the phrase 'most of the country' with regards to snowfall I know exactly what the charts will look like before I even see them lol This current pattern is so damn annoying for the far south, need to get that jet running further south but that doesn't look likely

Why? The meto have a lot more data to look at than what we have access to on this & other sites & that could still be indicating the colder scenario being the way forward.

You South easterners think you have it bad, try living in the south west! Things have certainly changed over the decades with our climate that's for sure as I've lived in North Somerset all my life & I can remember so many times as a kid walking to and from school in the snow in the 80s, having schools closed due to deep snow or closing early because heavy snow was forecast. The classic battleground between cold & mild can really deliver down here but that's the problem, in recent decades the whole pattern has shifted further north & east to the point where in most situations you can draw a perfect arc over the south west of the uk, covering parts of wales & into central southern england where we get rain & everywhere else is seeing snow. -
Well according to this the met Office are talking about more snow & ice into next week although they don't know where or when any will fall but they certainly ain't going for anything mild.

Well god damn, wouldn't that be a kick in the nuts if it actually ended up like that, that lp needs to get trending further south lol
-
Squeaky bum time for our region with what some of the weather models are showing into next week with 'battleground' scenarios, that's very high risk, high reward for us in the far south & south west. Wouldn't mind a repeat of Dec '81, that had low pressure systems just passing to the south but not too close that the cold air was pushed away from the far south

Just come in to post about that, only a small chance at the moment according to the wording but there were no warnings at all earlier on. This is why I do find it amusing seeing people in the mod thread posting with such confidence about there not being much snow anywhere this week, they might be right but as the warning shows, things could crop up at short notice.

Can you believe some were jumping ship & calling it all over after the overnight gfs run lol. Actually I reckon they we just saying what they were to get a reaction but hey ho, all forums have people like that! -
Merry Christmas all, considering how cold it's going to be tonight I was surprised to find a hedgehog in the feeding station at 11pm! Quite a large hog so it should survive hibernation. Think that might be the last time I see him/her for a while if what the weather models have been showing becomes reality.
