    Precip is gaining intensity as it hits land too, shower has stopped and left a dusting in places within 10 minutes. Only needs more of that tonight for an inch easily.

    I believe SSW can cause a split in the polar vortex which can cause cold air to sink into Europe and possibly the UK.

    A lot is moving in from the Irish Sea currently. If it’s snow, they are falling at a max of 5mm/hour roughly, but rattling through a lot quicker than that.

    It’s unlikely that anything that’ll fall will stick around past rush hour tomorrow, but it’ll be nice to see!

    The showers moving in Scotland and more especially, N Ireland, are really strong. These are expected to move across this evening aren’t they?

    Same for you! So many chances this winter. I would just like something to stick around for more than 10 minutes! I actually think in terms of accumulated snow, out of the 3.5 winter seasons I’ve lived here, this is the worst, yet had some of the most ‘wintry shower’ days!

    Just had the heaviest shower of the day of hail and snow. If this starts again when it goes dark, it’ll be game on for something accumulating.

    I’m not forecast anything wintry until around 4pm. That seems a bit late from what I’m reading here? i know we had a very heavy hail shower a few hours ago.

    THe windy app is saying 60mph wind gusts. There should be a warning for that surely?!

    Morning all. Metoffice finally have snow showers down for my location for tomorrow from late morning on and off throughout the day. Back to 6c on Monday though.

    Sunday is not looking exciting. Wintry showers and ice the main part of the warning, and snow for higher areas. Bit like today if there was more precip around during the day.

    I’m surprised that the precip that is falling now has nothing wintry in it. Colder air must be taking longer to come in. edit: Metoffice have changed their tune, rain showers for here and Manchester to lunch, then a sunny afternoon!

    The rain that shouldn’t have pepped up until it got towards the SE has become pretty intense. It’s miserable out there now.

    MEtoffice latest video forecast definitely doesn’t want to commit to full snow showers tomorrow, keeping things more ‘wintry’ and mentioning rain at the coasts. This is all while there are -8c 850’s!

    It looks to be quite a drop in temps tonight as it’s 8c currently here, expected to be around 1-2c by 5am and not expected to rise much during the day.
