  1. The thing moves through so fast it’s hard to see when that mild sector on the second image disappears! You can still see the sector in Europe on the third image.
  2. That was some hail shower. Any colder and it would have been snowing and hailing. It accumulated for all of 2 minutes, but it was pretty intense.
  3. just had quite a bit of hail. It’s now pouring with rain. It’s on the change lol.
  4. Wednesday night/ Thursday morning is really concerning. So similar to the 2007 storm I posted earlier, and also the one in Feb 2014 that caused a lot of damage. Both the thelwall viaduct and the Barton bridge closed. The Metoffice currently have me at 60mph gusts Thursday morning. The storm in 2014 has me at 63mph at the time (I was in Westhoughton), and I believe there were gusts of 85mph that day. Metoffice put out a red warning for Lancashire that day. this looks almost the exact same areas.
  5. Remember this 2007 storm - this seems similar to this one for Wednesday night? Was awful.
  6. If this storm tracks through Scotland, could we see some potentially damaging gusts here?
  7. I’m assuming that this is now looking like a standard NW flow with strong winds and wintry showers (rain and hail low level, and everything in the east of the region with some elevation? Metoffice seem to have been consistent with rain or rain showers here throughout.
  8. Yes, but there was never really anything of note of Mon-Thurs providing anything for areas away from the north and west, or away from high ground. I think the expectation dropped as the storm in Wednesday was pulling in much milder uppers last night.
  9. Different tone in Here compared to the model thread. It’s all doom and gloom over there as uppers don’t seem to be as cold?
  10. Probably similar to me - it was pouring with rain and sleet at 7:30, then slept again and woke at 9 with a patchy covering!
  11. In fact Metoffice app have 2 hours of heavy snow starting now for me apparently ?
  12. Wow, it seems the snow only really fell at the highest elevations now, most other areas having sleet. Looks like it was a rain and sleet event here and the band has almost gone through now. Metoffice app ended up having it pretty much bang on in the end.
  13. It seems to be slower than forecast? Looks more like 6-7am for it making inroads to our region now?
  14. GLad oven read in here as I couldn’t understand why snow was disppearing on the app! its -0.2c here apparently. Might be a bit colder than that as the digital thermometer i have is in between two houses rather than in the middle of the garden.
  15. What does that mean? I’ve been eating plainer it a few years back but I can’t remember haha!
  16. Fingers crossed. It’s the first positive thing for snow from this pre event! 2.2c now so its dropping quite quickly
  17. My non digital thermometer is saying 0c, so either way it seems a little colder than forecast. I was a bit worried when it reached 7c around 4 hours ago. These clear skies need to hold on for as long as possible to let the temps drop as much as possible.
  18. I have everything crossed that this system does what every other system has done so far this year and moves further south.
  19. Just confirm to some, the warnings for snow are only in the extreme north and east of Manchester/Greater Manchester currently and Lancashire.
  20. Is the centre of the low keeping to our south then? I thought it was due to come over us?
  21. THe only good thing about the warnings is they have moved south a bit.
