    I will go for 3.6, colder than average for the first third, much colder the second third, becoming milder in the final third. Just a punt.

    Yes the 850s are not brilliant and as nick says the troughing over europe is not ideal. But lets take a step back for one second, these synoptics at this time of the year are not the norm thats for sure and if they continue the cold will come. I would just to the ECM for what it is extensive northen blocking and has massive potential down the line. Of course things can change but the ECM is the form horse and the 32 dayer has been singing from the same hym sheet for a long time now.

    Very heavy hail here now, everything is white very impressive for the time of year. Plenty more showers coming south a interesting few hours ahead i feel

    Heavy hail giving another covering, just need the -8 850s to push a little further south west to get some proper snow i think.

    Had showers on and off all day here, they have been of rain and hail. Had a slight cover off hail here earlier but it soon melted away plenty more showers to come. Its only october so anything we get now is a bonus

    Pouring down here at the moment no thunder heard yet but its impressive how dark its gone. Not much wind, as i type the rain has got much heavier.

    Loads of activity here today far more than previous days. Can here thunder in the distance but havent seen any lightning yet. The sky looks very angry at the moment.

    Showers seem to be dying a death when they get to the coast at the moment. Hopefully the wind will become more westerly as the afternoon goes on.

    Today is one of them days where you dont watch the radar to see when a shower is coming, you look out the window to see it developing and use the radar to check the intensity as they are developing so quickly.

    No showers here yet but towers shooting up all over the place i think it could a very interesting day.

    There are thunderstorms to my west and east can here the thunder i am in the dry slot at the moment . Plenty of time yet today and looking at the prospects for tomorrow and monday plenty of radar watching to come

    Heavy shower here about 5 mins ago more coming up from the south could be an interesting afternoon as long as a easterly wind does not get going.

    All the activity is 20 miles to the west of me . Can see it all forming but moving away.

    Well our storm was worth the wait we had frequent lightning and shotgun thunder and torrential rain it only lasted 20 mins but i am glad looking at some of the scenes further north. I fit had gone on for another 20 mins our street would of been under water. Also the size of the raindrops was something i have never witnessed, they sounded like hail hitting the floor.

    Very warm here now up to 24.8 now with a dewpoint of 19.1 very unstable air above, plenty of cape and a -3 lift index but no convection why. I have no idea, does anyone else no why.

    The word at the moment is devestated for me nothing at all near here, i just hope daytime heating can spark something off or when the cold front arrives it could kick off but i am losing hope.

    I no i thought that my weather station was broke so i checked the local weather station on weather underground and it was the same. The skys looking a little more promising now the sun has broke threw, then again i am a optimist

    Abit early to be writing our chances off the reason there has been no convection popping round here in the last hour or so is because the temperture droped as well as the dew point. But in the last 15 minutes the temp has risen 5 degrees and the dew point has followed so i am still hopefull.

    Showers really getting going near here now, i think this could be a day to remember it just feels so thundery outside. Also clouds seem to be moving in different directions any idea why anyone?

    Heavy showers getting going here, lightning detected further north from here but plenty of showers heading this way

    The band of storms that passed though the teeside area were very active and produced alot of lightning, unfortunatly for me the least intence part of the band decided to go threw my area. Some's up my luck with storms always seems like it cant miss but somehow it does.

    Only 15.7c here on the east coast but any shelter from the wind and it feels alot warmer. 4 amazing days in a row here not a cloud in the sky and the weekend looks just as good.
