Hmm now the question is, being on the Isle of Wight and in a prone area for this storm ( Regarding winds) do I or do I not walk along the seafront to experience these winds or will it be too dangerous?

Take a quick peek towards the Channel isles sounds brill though, strobe lightning is a thing of beauty. Took a long while coming
I agree, it was just incredible to watch, ill try and get footage on here
Wish I was down there! June 7th saw a cracker when I was there luckily! Heard there was flash flooding in Fareham area.
Ahhh yeah I remember those, storms, we got lucky with them too ! Tbh we have been kinda spoilt this year where I live, I have no right to complain about anything this year haha, with snow and storms

Urm well, I cant quite believe what have just witnessed here on the Isle of Wight! That has got to be the best thunderstorm if not the 2nd best thunderstorm I have ever seen! And it lasted a good 3 or so hours! It was literally like a light switch outside, Lightning ever 1 seconds to 4 seconds at the most for the first 2 hours, it was all around us, just not know which way to look! Last hour it had calmed, the hunder bu not much, every 20-30 seconds, and then eventually passed through.
The rain and wind along with it was just mind blowing, several places flooded aswell!
Truly amazing storm, really will be a day to remeber!

Things looking quite close for a late september plume on the last 2 GFS, obviously could still change but i think it could be worth keeping an eye on, especially with the warmer seas

Have got to say, I am really beginning to look forward to Winter, I love all the anticipation, and being able to wrap up.
To be honest im an all round perosn, I love Summer, Winter, Autumn and Spring, I generally have a wide interest in all weather, from one extreme to the other
Hoping we get some snow again this year, and lots of nice sunny frosty mornings aswell . Wouldnt mind the odd winter Atlantic storm or 2 either .
-
Hey Guys, not sure if my eyes are correct or not, but I have also notice the GFS shows some signs of possible late september plume, its close anyway.
Also looks as though GFS and ECM hinting at a breakdown as we go into FI, which should be interesting

GFS and ECM, still looking very good for high pressure and warmth for at least a good week , slight signs of GFS going for a breakdown aswe go into FI, but thats FI so it could still change
This should be really nice

Will never forget this little gem, snow showers had been predicted later that evening, remember finishing school and walking home with my mate and we started to soft hail and snowflake mix and out of no where we had a crack of thunder with it. However after this had past we got real proper treat!
An absolute beast was heading straight for us from the North, the whole sky exploding with huge Cumulonimbus, pure Orange and pink and grey, lookd unreal! Everyone could see what was coming, but out of nowhere this beautiful double CG came shooting out, and then there was very frequent thunder and lightning (Lightning was almost blood red and purple) I was like WHAT THE HELL IS THIS! Waiting for snow all day, instead a huge thunderstorm exploded into life out of no where, but I wasnt complaining. Thinking Ill take this any day if theres no snow!
Now here was the best thing, as soon as it arrived, full on out of no where got hit full on by blizzard like conditions, with massive massive snowflakes bigger than 50ps ( It was proper snow 100%). As this was happening, thunder and lightning was every 30 seconds to a minute, but thunder was so so loud it was crazy! Lightning red and purple still too. This lasted for a good 45 minutes to an hour. Was amazing to experience, we ended up with 2 inches of snow after it had cleared too ( BONUS)

Interesting GFS into FI with that Northerly towards the end.
In the meantime the GFS is another Stonker for high pressure and warmth leading into next week, will be interesting to see how well the temperatures do, only time will tell
Before that though still got another couple of weather fronts coming through between now and friday
This looks like to give some rain to some, but not to bad with the wind

Quaint little bit of beach, but I enjoy it and spent many happy holidays in Swanage as a kid:

Mid-October 1978 saw several consecutive 25C days...
Indeed, I also remember September 2011 towards the end a few places hit 29'c
Hopefully ECM will look good for high pressure and warmth at the weekend, wouldn't mind seeing a few more warm spells before winter starts to kick in

Lovely looking GFS for the weekend earlly next week, if it pulls off the way it showing, I wouldnt actually be suprise if a few parts in the UK get close to the mid 20's
Before Friday however still looking unsettled, breezy and wet, this one reason why I like Autumn, goes from extreme to another, etc this week charts Temperatures Low to mid teens at best in the UK, with single figures in the far North, and then a few days later back up into the 20's with single digits at nights

What I do love about the longer nights is that its much easier to sleep, as much as I love summer summer. heat and of course Thunderstorms ( The only thing I love waking up for) I hate waking up say 4am/5am in the morning to almost bright sunlight and cannot get back to sleep at all, because I know id just be really tired at work but hey ho thats life.
I am looking forward to really long nights for a while, I'm sociable in whatever conditions, love going to the pub on a winters night, I dont know why i just do
However what I hate aout winter is the lack of thunderstorms But I love the snow

I know that we have had many severe Atlantic Storm systems come, but theres a reason why this is another one of my favourites, because of what it gave the IOW
Right I was at bowls, and we could the wind outside roaring like crazy, and then all of a sudden this huge defining roar on our tinned roof under and unbelievable hailstorm, and all of a sudden, one of the loudest cracks of thunder I had ever heard, me and some mates sushed to open the door to see this crazy spell of weather. As soon as we opened the dooor, there was a blinding flash right above us with instant thunder so loud it set off all car alarms, the hail was the size of marbles coming down, and at the same time the wind was probably the strongest i had ever felt! it was was scary. Anyway this passed through all in the space of 30 minutes, and i went to see the back edge of the storm as the wind died down, and too my suprise there was this rather big funnel cloud almost touching. It was one of the most fun and scariest weather experiences i experienced, mainly due to the wind.
When I got home, I had found out what just passed actually a supercell, that developed in the English channel not far from the IOW, hit us directly, 90mph winds was recorded from this monster! The same day the needles had recorded 101 mph as it was shown on the bbc later on.

Right im only 20 and can only remember as far back as 2003 from what ive experienced, okay here is my list of favourites
Has to be this, hottest day recorded in the uk
next up
26th July into 27th July 2006, this was when I had seen the best thunderstorms I had ever seen, I would of put one from beginning of August this year where the IOW had been hit by the worst storm in 30 years, but I was in GUERNSEY
April 6th 2008: We had got blasted by 6 inches of snow, and its one of my favourites due tot he time of year, I thought it was incredible and later on that evening we had a snow shower with a beautiful cg and massive crack of Thunder!
6ht January 2010: At this date, it was the most snow and best winter spell I had ever witnessed, we had 34cm of snow recorded on the IOW, however later on that year which everyone would remember November and December 2010, just blew it away!
This gave the IOW 18/19 hours of continuous heavy snow, with a total accumulation of 2 foot in places with over 7ft drifts! I will never ever forget this day and the whole cold spell of that time in general! Top Sutff!

I have never seen so many wasps this year on the IOW tbh, they have been everywhere and 3 customers at the place I work have been stung. Hope these things though dont come in I hate wasps and hornets
-
The chavs in your area must be stupid then. Longer nights = chavs out longer, colder, shorter nights = everyone indoors by 7pm (unless it's snowing).
All Chavs are Stupid :L
I quite like the longer nights but only to a certain extent, however I have never really been a big fan of it being light really early, as sometimes when I wake up say 4/5am and its broad daylight I can never get back to sleep. Its okay if there is a storm and can see the structure of the storm, but at the same time lighting is always better in the dark. To be honest im not fussy about any of it, I socialise anytime

This is going to be a longgg night
