  1. Hi all

Its currently Dry and warmish but nothing like this pass weekend and yesterday, there is quite a bit of haze about and bit misty in some parts. Currently got a NE breeze which does take the edge off those temperatures

    Current temperature: 16.8c

  2. I've only just seen the GFS and how much it has changed from earlier - over 3000 CAPE progged for C/N belt of France...going to be at the very least an Estofex Level 2 for them tomorrow I'd imagine - I might even zip down to the coast tomorrow evening (though will see how this develops further) - come on change a bit further for us to nip in on a bit of the action biggrin.gif

Hmm im wonder whether it will be worth for me to pop down the sea front or up on culver downs hopefully I might get lucky and see some distant lightning looking at that rain chart looks possible :).

  3. Hi all

Today well now it was yesterday started off dryish but about 7am we had an unexpected shower which produced very big spots of rain but wasnt all that heavy though was suprised to see it. Anyway as the day went on it was a sunny and warm day with a breeze about but it wasn't a cold breeze. This evening there was a beutiful sunset and over ventnor downs there was a big fog bank over hanging the downs which looked stunning indeed, sadly we just missed out on 20c by about 0.5c but that was probably due to the breeze, but still felt very pleasant.

Current temperature out there is 9.9c

  4. Yes it is looking interesting for northern ares over the weekend with some decent cape and LI of around -3/-4 showing I reckon some could spark off :winky:

It shows a bit more of a risk more southern areas on Monday or tuesday on latest run but I think this is too far to tell so far but fingers crossed

  5. Yes thought not as warm/hot as the other one but it looks very good again lets see if ECM wants to bring in the warmth smile.gif

I find it quite extroadinary and interesting that back in November showed absolute no sign for the really cold winter thats passed and now for the pass month it was showing sign on warmth etc and now it's showing a very nice warm spell indeed and I am just wondering if summer 2010 could end up being hot and beutiful, Fingers crossed and keeping positive still for this summer

  6. GFS 18z showing more or less the same, although going into FI the GFS shows its true colours becoming smitten with northerlies. If the GFS isnt saturating the country with northerlies then something is severely wrong.

, FI is horrible but it should change in next run as usual :).

However reliable timeframe looks very good and very nice long dry warm or very warm spell by tuesday onwards with some very nice temperatures of low to mid twenties by next weekend :cc_confused:.

  7. Well next week will see the first real warmth of Spring - about time too, it's almost summer now! doh.gif

It will definately be a pleasant change, some warmer nights too, probably 14C lows towards the end of next week in southern areas.

Yup and am looking forward too it so I can get some fishing done :unknw:

14c lows sounds good infact very good considering of what this spring has been like but yeh it is looking like a very nice spell of weather coming up indeed :D

Lets see what 00z brings tomorrow well today now so Night all :D

  8. Cheers mate, most of our storms for this time onwards until august time are mainly elevated and yeh I know it wont be there on the 00z but thought it would be interesting to point out and now I have learned fully what a plume is now which is why I posted it biggrin.gif.

Anyway also interesitng to see stuff like this even if they dont stay on there for long smile.gif

  9. I must say that here has been quite good for convection from wednesday onwards and to go with that we had an interesting day on thursday with A) plenty of heavyish showers in the afternoon with 2 of them had sleet with them IN MID MAY :unknw: another thing was the funnel cloud and the amount of rotation in the clouds and last but not least a beutiful shelf cloud had developed which was overshooting an old CB which was behing a Heavy sleet curtan suprisingly :D.

Friday the day started off sunny and kinda chillyish but started to warm up and a developing CB started to develop at about 11:45am infront of my eyes and became bigger and bigger and the IOW had developed its own shower/showers, this had turned out to be a fairly big CB with some amazing colour in there and produced some very big spots of rain but the main of it was just to the East of me. As the afternoon went we kept getting hit by showers for a good few hours with 1 in particular gave heavy rain along with hail an dlasted for a good 30 minutes. We then got hit by another shower at about 3pm which then I found out it was the same shower I had got hit by before I got on the bus back home from college, though it had weekend by the time it got too Sandown which is where I went too and didnt have hail but was still pretty heavy rain with big spots. This turned out to be the last shower of the day and all of the showers that day died as they hit the sea.

So all in all a much better week in terms of a bit of action and interest in the weather and now fingers crossed for a hot and thunery summer :D

  10. Sorry I havent posted reports the pass day or 2 been busy bowling but will make it up tomorrow with a big one.

Anyway today was nice start but then clouded over a bit but felt pleasantly warm and by about 1:50pm we had a little very light shower and then a couple more very light showers for the next 2 hours. After this it was dry and very nice pleasant evening indeed and quite warm.

  11. Hi all

Today has been another Interesting day with a few showers about and one came over with a huge CB and also what looked like a wall cloud as it passed over. As the day went on we have been played by more showers but along with some decent sunny spells and light winds and has not felt as cold as it has done for the pass 2 days due to the lighter winds.

Current Temperatures around the Island starting from the Highest:

    5. Bleaktown: 11.2c

    Maximum Temperatures:

    1. Newport: 13.7c

    2. Freshwater: 12.9c

    3. Newchurch/ Sandown: 12.9c

    4. Bleaktown: 12.8c

    5. Wroxall: 12.4c

  12. I don't know what we need for this pattern to end. Maybe the strong high pressure to western europe next week could join onto the high pressure to the east, however, the pressure to the east is slacker and not as well built, so its easier for the pressure over us, to move back to its favourite place the atlantic and over greenland.

It is a right old tough thing to end and I think that could be the case but I really hope a change comes soon, but then I spose its all part of the fun with the weather and basically like a game you win some and you lose some laugh.gif

But yeh I really can't see the atlantic being quiet for very long soon and knowing our luck in the past 3 years it will probably wake up in the summer and over us but apart from that I just hope we get a few plumes this summer :help:

  13. Without question the best storms I've ever seen were those on Tour 1 - back home now in the cold and dreary skies and looking forward to sleep tonight.

Here's a few of my fave pics from the chases - bear in mind Tour 1 was relatively quiet, we nevertheless saw tornadoes and amazing supercells and squall lines!

The best UK storms for me are strong MCS', as they give out hours of awesome thunder and lightning. Thing is, they aren't really all that when you've seen what a supercell, or even a weak US squall line can do.

Thankyou for sharing these, they are unbelievable and are amazing especially that Tornadic one :help:

Just thought id add the best storm ive ever witnessed. In 1998 i went to Florida with my then girlfriend, we stayed at the Grovsner hotel just inside Disney resort near downtown Disney. It was in the 2nd week of the hol(1st week August) and we were just chilling at side of the pool. Around about 3ish in the afternoon we heard distant rumbles of thunder and it grew darker to our west. We decided to head off back to our room, and as soon as we entered the t.v. started a loud buzzing tone(Ididnt know at the time, it were a warning for violent t/storms/tornado alert!) Anyway the storm grew and grew (By this time i had the

weather channel on) and we were been warned to take cover in the bathroomshok.gif

When the storm hit the rain/hail was just like fog and the wind was so strong the windows wrer shaking, by this time i was at the windows whilst getting screamed at by the GF. Anyway there were no reports of tornados thankfully, but after the storm we had a walk round an trees were uprooted, cars on there sides and olot of damage. We got speaking to locals and they confirmed what the weathermen said ''its been the worst storm in 25 years''

What made it more special was the fact that we watched all the reports/live commenary(our hotel was on the news channel! etc) whilst laying on bed and eating buffalo wings, mashed potato and gravy!!!laugh.gif

Im sure you,ll be able to look it up somewhere!

    Hi there Joggs

I bet that must of put a smile on your face knowing that you witnessed the worst storm fro 25 years of where you was at the right time, sounds very Impressive, was there much thunder and lightning with this storm along with the rain and hail?

  14. It was looking good but then goes colder again from T+216 onwards just before right at the end of the run, I know its way far out into FI but from T+360 onwards it has the Jet pushing north and then over us but at least it shows it pushing up and a bit warmer weather again aswell but yeh unfortuenatly it is way way too far out to say.
