One little flurry is our total snowfall or lack of it 8 miles from Newcastle, Some places in Scotland have had 15 cms + lucky sods.

Do’nt be greedy, here just north of Newcastle we may at a push have 2cms with absolutely nothing falling thus far today, plenty of sunshine mind you. -
Nick it’s the same here virtually nothing coming our way foe the next 3 hours unless the wind changes, such a pity when we have such perfect Synoptics, bear up we might still get lucky.

No snow since last night and one slight flurry this morning, still it’s a lovely sunny day but not quite what I expected.

What’s wrong with Graupel? Otherwise known as soft hail ,it does nor melt as quickly as a snowflake and makes a good base for the snow to lie on.

Compared to recent winters this one has been ace save for the fact that the area has been generally starved of snow. Following the Synoptics has been very interesting and we have got everything we have wanted except a good old fashioned blizzard. We still have about 4 weeks of possible cold weather available so here’s hoping for a continuation of similar spells to this one with a couple of battleground situations thrown in as well.

We just had a 30 second Graupel shower it was heavy is hand has turned everything white.

I think that’s the streamer the charts keep showing, they expect one to form to the south of us, we might well miss out but should still get showers eventually.

Strange isn’t it, we have cloud,low temperature in fact everything in place but there is still a reason why no snow falls, I still believe we will get our share but oh how I hate the wait.

Just a dusting here from very occasional light Graupel and snow grains, just hoping this afternoon produces something better.

My guess is we will all be excited bunnies when we look out of the window tomorrow morning, how much snow will this week bring? That’s in the laps of the gods.

You surprise me Steve has been a stalwart on Net Weather and he is greatly missed, I have never seen him post anything not related to the weather and I for one hope he returns SAP.

Surely the possible breakdown is not worth thinking about at this stage, we all want the freeze and the snow, let’s enjoy it and worry about the end of next week in a few days time. However my feelings are that there will be no proper end to the cold for at least the first 3 weeks of February.

Actually it produced very little, so little our golf course stayed open most of the time but just to our north and south and west there was more than enough.
