  1. Well we are with you but over 12 miles from the coast and only cold rain showers, the temperature here has risen to 1.9 c, if only the uppers would be better.
  2. I suppose that they are worried about the current marginality if the flow, let’s see how they react if the real cold materialises.
  3. Very interesting the forecast on NW for tonight is for some snow , I feel the marginality is disappearing and unless right on the coast will be white tomorrow.
  4. We had a light covering first thing but the remaining showers are going to miss us, it looks like the coast should do well if temperatures remain low enough.
  5. The temperature I quoted is just offshore I presumed and I got it from the web
  6. The temperature just of the coast a Sunderland was 46.7f sea temperature of course.
  7. Tonight’s precipitation is highly likely to be rain or sleet unfortunately unless you have altitude on your side, the air just is not cold enough yet. current sea temperature in the North Sea off Sunderland is 47.8c so the wait will go on, frustrating isn’t it?
  8. I’m 10 miles from the coast and other than a few rain showers we have seen nothing. current temperature 1.3c, light winds, I suppose that global warming for you.
  9. The showers appear to be coming inland now , I think we will need elevation to get meaningful snow at the present time.
  10. We have to deal with what we have,a warming world, I do believe that this winter the North Sea SST’s are abnormally high and given the right Synoptics we may well for a few years find snow easier to come by, remember any continuation of Northerlies will see a cooling down.
  11. Clear skies here in Newcastle, it’s been dry all day save for a couple of light rain showers this morning, I fell we will have to wait for a few days more to see the white stuff. Meanwhile parts of Durham have snow cover. temperature is currently 0.6c. have a good new year, Rollo.
  12. Just wait till the snow starts ,this place will have lots of posts, point is when will the snow come?
  13. As I sit looking out of the window at the rain falling My mind goes back to what I call proper winters, 1947, 1962 and 1979, certainly there have been cold and very cold months since but in my mind to really rate we want cold throughout January until end of February. john Holmes says be careful what you wish for and I have wished for another 1947 for aeons but at 83 I fear it will not happen and we should perhaps SW permitting have one cold month.......please.
  14. That just about correct on the face of it but we have all experienced unexpected falls and I guess some will be lucky and some will not. But it’s on its way,
  15. Merry Christmas to one and all and prepare for the cold to last till March!
  16. Thanks Chris, I shall be keeping an on that camera over the next couple of months.
  17. All this talk about the 850’s being to high does worry me , at this time in December Northerlies usually guarantee at least a covering. Let us hope for the best and fear the worst, in the meantime I wish everyone on this thread a merry Christmas and a happy white New Year.
  18. The amount of posts seems to reflect a sad lack of interest this year but I am sure within the next 72 hours it will come to life , perhaps everyone is polishing their skis and sledge runners!
