  1. @Southern Storm That's a good capture I had binoculars on my tripod earlier, those two stars in the bottom right of your photo I remember seeing those, and the comet was a light patch slightly elongated. I took a few more shots about 4.30am , seems like a cloudy week coming up.
  2. Tail showing nicely What ISO was it ? Samyang or Rokinon lens?
  3. A stack of 30 shots from early January, the moon was at 90 %
  4. Had a look this morning at 4am, just before it clouded up. Quite easy to find with a short exposure it's below the handle of the plough ATM I was able to see it with 10x50 bins. 10 seconds at 300m ISO 6400 using Pentax astrotracer.
  5. Last Friday I got a widefield view of the comet. It's hard to see in this view. It was also hazy and a few clouds around. 4am today I tried again, but cloud moved in so just one 10 seconds exposure with a 55-300 zoom at 170mm.
  6. I managed to find it early AM today, a basic guide is find Arcturus in the east at 3am, look left to the next brightest star, then left and slightly down to the next bright star. I did cheat a bit with Mobile Stellarium. It was mostly clear but quite hazy, came out with a 4 second exposure at 90mm. Haven't had chance to check my pics as yet. @Zak and Southern Storm Did you use Stellarium to find it? Comet of the month: C/2022 E3 (ZTF) – British Astronomical Association BRITASTRO.ORG
  7. Not sure that is lightning, seems to be an electrical fault shorting out. Wet snow sticking to subzero surfaces and adding extra weight, could bring down branches onto power lines.
  8. Early AM today the temperature was -6C and I saw four flashes of lightning in the ESE. This was out to sea between Essex and Holland, about 70 miles from here.
  9. After the rain cleared on Sunday Starlings have begun murmuration
  10. Already had 60mm this month, with 20mm today so far. Perhaps another 10mm inbound today.
  11. Shots from Yesterday's Thunderstorm squall, time constraints, and a lack of planning, flat camera battery, made this a last minute dash. I did get a few shots though.
  12. Quite intense precip around Stevenage recently, can see anvil streaming away north. That squall tracked through here about 13.40 , quite noisy hail barrage on the front edge largest about 20mm. These had melted slightly when I took these pics
  13. Quite intense precip around Stevenage recently, can see anvil streaming away north
  14. Yeah squally thundery showers could be quite widespread, perhaps some more organized storms in the south and southeast.
  15. Some potential for some intense Thunderstorms tmrw being mentioned. Decent CAPE for the time of year, and high speed shear.
  16. Because we love them My cat licks my hand and sometimes face. It also sometimes preens my face/cheek using it's front teeth, a bit painful
  17. Apologies the tornado was in Hampshire. Certainly looks like a Supercell to me.
  18. Brilliant structure I'd say that is a Supercell storm Is it ok to share/link your video? Edit Apologies I think Marlow Zoo , ware the tornado occured is in Hampshire.
