  1. Hi all, clear skies here with a wisp of cirrus, temps climbing in the last 2 hours from 24° to 26°, humidity currently at 61% Gotta say I hate all this waiting, if only I had a Tardis
  2. An interesting video here > Looking forward to next week, hopefully we can all stay safe and enjoy the storms!
  3. As I replied on the convective thread >>>> I think you can see what I can.. Looks to be towards Chelmsford, gaining height rapidly but nothing either side of it!!
  4. I think you can see what I can.. Looks to be towards Chelmsford, gaining height rapidly but nothing either side of it!!
  5. What's the chance of Essex getting in on the action? Slim I reckon!
  6. I know it's off TROPIC but is this an upstairs rad? It will warm on older systems same as in my house if the hot water is on. You have to shut off the rad valves on all upstairs rads otherwise a demand for hot water will heat them.
  7. P.S. Mid level cirrus if there is such a thing to my my south and east but otherwise spotless blue skies!
  8. (I bet this reply goes to the top of the next page!!! I really hate that!) Hi all, Temps/humidity here in sunny Basildon have been pretty constant over the last few days. Sunday 32.6/55% Monday 31.0./40% Tuesday 32.0/40% Today 30.5/35% Loving the heat but the higher humidity levels can go swivel!! Edit to add: Yeehah post 3 page 2
  9. I also used to do the same, somehow a lightning arrestor on a length of RG213 gave me no confidence, in fact it scared the beejesus outta me!!
  10. Does anyone have an early warning storm detector? I mean a dog!! My poor old pooch would know hours in advance of a storm, nowadays I have to resort to radar watching! Temp here 28°c and 51% humidity and my weather station is suggesting rain!
  11. Afternoon all, I might have suspected this thread would be busy today! I just logged on to see what's happening as locally baby cumulus is popping up to my west and north. Does anyone to my north/west see more development? By the way temp and humidity here are 29.4°c/50%
  12. Watching a pair of buzzards soaring here, no effort but climbing rapidly. Could be a good sign of convection getting started!
  13. Chris I was under the belief that the BBC forecasters are employed by the METo, therefore their forecasts should be identical.
  14. Afternoon all, it's quite an eerie feeling out there at the moment. It would be on days like this that my dog would bury herself behind the sofa cos she knew what was coming!!
  15. Not wanting to put a downer on tonights convective activity but it just doesn't feel right. Time for bed and roll on Wednesday
  16. I just took a similar one Harry, not looking too great from Bas vegas!
  17. Sorry to put a downer on your forthcoming holiday Lizzy. Let me try to give you a few pointers I discovered in the last week. True the resort is a great place for families and your hotel may provide all the kids want. The main Levante beach is very clean and stretches for about 1.5 miles. The water is clear and warm although there are rocks close to shore in the central part of the beach so stay at either end and you will be clear of them unless the kids like fishing for the mullet fry in the rock pools. Old Benidorm is the better option for shopping as most of the shops are Spanish owned and prices are much more competetive. Back in the centre, the shops are mainly owned by Chinese people and you can expect to find rubbish and cheap tat so avoid if at all possible! I never visited the water parks but I had a brochure for one and the price was 42 euros per adult and 35 per child per day, the Thomas Cook reps wanted another 10 euros on top of that and still we would have had to make our own way there! Watch out for the so called mini cruises from Benidorm harbour. My wife and I went to Calpe which is 15 miles along the coast, we got there and it was closed. Siesta time and nothing to do but wait 3 hours for the return boat, a total waste of 45 euros and a whole day!! Going into more detail ... you would be lucky to find a public toilet along the whole Levante beach. There are two, 1.5 miles apart and you have to pay to use them if you can find them. Beware the pea men and anyone carrying a clipboard, their only aim in life is to relieve you of as much cash as they can. Travelling as a family group you should not be harrassed by these undesirables, and there is a healthy police prescence, in cars, scooters and even seqways and they don't mess about. Eating out is a bit difficult as most bars don't show their prices. The English bars DO show their prices so stick with them if you can. The evening is where Benidorm comes alive, you can find entertainment on every corner but it's also when the pickpockets and muggers come out, the police are also well aware of this and increase their numbers, providing you stay in the main areas then you should not be at risk. I hope you enjoy your holiday and that I have given a fairly comprehensive review of at least what I experienced. Of course your hotel/location may make a slight difference but generally that's how I see it!!
  18. Something forming here in Essex ..... .Oh sorry, it's a blackhead
  19. Sorry for the late reply. Yes I did get a tan. The temp was 28°c Sat to Thurs then it ramped up to 30°c for the remainder and beautiful blue skies throughout the whole week!
  20. Well I'm back and to be honest I won't be returning. The Hotel was ok and set on the edge of benni, but only 400mtrs from the beach. Nice and quite and a great location. On the few times we ventured out we spotted 1 pair of pickpockets, 1 shoplifter, and a group of 4 Romanian girls who 'specialised' in mugging single men. The girls (actually ugly fat women) were taken aside by the police, their victim was repatriated with his belongings and the girls were released!! We followed the girls to keep them in our sights only to find they were staying in the residential block next to our hotel! We met a TV crew recording Benidorm ER who were interested in our views on 'Crime' and 'Unsafe Balconies' but we declined their offer. Of course there was a plefora of beggars but they were no problem, just ignore them. No decent weather to report, only what I now realise what was a squall line around 4pm this afternoon that sent our plane plumetting more than a few times before an interesting landing back at Southend. Thanks for all your input into this topic. I never found any culture, not even the vomit variety!!
  21. I managed it last year in Torremolinos. The Butterfly park and the Budhist temple were two of my intended destinations. We did them plus a lot more. We spent our evenings at our hotel, chatting with brits and taking in the entertainment. We also managed to escape the tourist routes and found plenty of local shops. It all depends on what you're looking for. Last year at Torremolinos we were there during the Euro 2012 final, of course we cheered on the Spanish who won the tournament. You couldn't wish to meet a finer bunch of people, I won't forget that night for a long time!. I think the stigma to certain resorts is all relative. If you're club 18-30 then you look for partying all night long. During the day the old gits (like me) come out and we find what we have come for!
  22. AJ, you nearly had me then until I read the 'fellow brits' bit. I'm gonna avoid anyone that sounds Geordie/Scottish/Irish cos they all seem to be unhinged! Bleach blondes and fake tans are to be avoided as they are probably of the Essex variety. Bloated brits wearing England football shirts are equally to be swerved, not to mention the idiots wearing union jack baseball caps even though they have no idea of what baseball is. I'm going to Spain to enjoy the Spanish culture, I must be a weirdo and possibly out of my depth as my destination appears to be Blackpool in the sun!!
  23. Not sure really. have a good hotel, all inclusive but haven't been there before. Just seemed to be a bit of a change from majorca/costa del sol/canaries.greek islands
