    From the netweather radar (NW Extra) you can clearly see there is patchy rain across Bristol, N.Somerset and Somerset. Hopefully later the heavy ppn will turn up with temps on the decrease.

    Go to the metoffice for south west england all you will see their forecast. It shows just a little rain. Now to put this to bed, I want lots of cold and snow. I hope to see some later but the front hasnt really moved in 6 hrs so when some ppn reaches our area it will probably be light. We will see. I will be first to shout if i see snow, dont worry about that mate. NO IAN BROWN HERE.

    Thats the warning, if you look at the charts it shows just rain and not much at that either. Seems to drizzle then fizzle out.

    Calm yourself. Ok then, snow on grass and cars and wet on the roads and pavements. That more like it?

    Mate you know it always rains in weston in these situations! Go 5-10 miles inland and its a different story. On many occasion I have left Yatton in the snow to arrive in weston in the rain!

    BBC show temps of 7-8 next friday. Ummm what happend to the cold end to next week and the Easterly?? Cant even remember the last good easterly...oh yes I can..........1991!!!

    Nothing too much to talk about from the output today (as per the number of posts), nothing cold on the horizon it seems. Lots of talk about background signals, this seems to be only thing some people are holding onto. These background signals dont mean definate cold for the UK, but when will these background signals start to show in the models. Some may disagree but if your wanting prolonged spell of cold weather this winter time is starting to run out.

    Ive posted the NAO and AO charst a few times here, I dont think the charts are a FORECAST its a chart of the ensembles? Correct me if im wrong.

    I know I shouldn't compare run to run, but the 06z looks much more promising at 120 than the 00z. Im not looking further.

    Thank you for your posts OldMetMan. As soon as a model shows a downgrade the mood is 'thats it, all over' or 'downgrade downgrade'. What helps me and what is so good about your posts is that you actually EXPLAIN WHY you think a model could be wrong. This is something many posters cannot do.

    06z looks like a repeat of the 00z. Infact less cold in the west, just a fleeting period of cold for western areas.

    BBC only goes up to Friday with 7 degrees in south and 4 in North. So I would say the BBC agree when they dont even mention next weekend. He talked about next weekends temps at freezing with snow......DOUBT IT.

    Different evolution at 192 on the GFS. NW flow, and PV split?

    2 frosts in two days......wow. That sums up the whole of this winter.......NO COLD!

    If NOAA seem so confident with the ECM output we should be seeing the GFS moving much more towards the ECM pattern very soon? I presume NOAA get it wrong sometimes aswell?!

    From a newbie, I think the earlier output of the GFS 12z has moved towards the ECM.

    Must admit Im expecting the ECM to jump to the GFS camp!

    Think you have a point, no point ignoring the GFS because the ECM shows what some people want. Will you be embarrassed if the ECM turns to follow the GFS later today? lol
