  1. Dinny start gettin cheeky or al get @Big Innes Madori on yeh
  2. I eluded to that a few nights ago Steve, though given the way this winter has gone I think we would take either form of blocking Certainly signs that the main section of tpv will be going toward the Siberian / Scandinavian side.
  3. See my latest post in the model tweets thread from Simon Lee suggesting that the ECM also going towards the scandi blocking situation.... Could our patience finally get rewarded? Long way to go but fingers crossed it is the real deal this time
  4. Certainly hasn't been as bad as it could have been as storms have been more in a line rather than discrete supercells. Sadly a fatal tornado in Pickens county Alabama earlier today though.
  5. We need a beast from the east redux to fully test the snow forecasting capabilities of the short range models
  6. wrf and some of the other short range models not really interested, ATM I would say somewhere like Cairngorms SW to Dalwhinnie look best. Euro 4 has really been overestimating any snowfall opportunities this winter IMO.
  7. Wild night and day here, bins went flying at about 2 am certainly didn't need to check the radar to tell it was a squall line earlier currently 8.8 C and had 19.5 mm of rain so far today - in other words more akin to autumn than winter.
  8. Ice Storm Warning issued for over 2.5 million Michiganders WWW.MLIVE.COM An Ice Storm Warning has been issued for part of Lower Michigan
  9. Got down to -1.7 C here last night, currently 8.6 C and wind really starting to pick up with rain on and off. A shame we didn't get to see any nacreous clouds, hopefully it doesn't take too long before the next opportunity.

  11. Yes I thought the same, just stumbled across it on Twitter and thought I would chuck it into the conversation and as you were saying earlier possibly some connection between MJO and SSW.
  12. Tornado threat tomorrow (Texas) upgraded to moderate risk then also further east toward Alabama on Saturday, potential for some strong tornadoes.
  13. No IF we could manage to get a split and a section of the PV did indeed move into Siberia should we get the chance of an easterly it could be very potent, long way off this though and probably would be best if the other section of PV was more toward Alaska, think @Glacier Point mentioned a possibility of this a while back.
